In good form for new yard, winning at first attempt and then no disgrace in finishing second to the fast -improving Terry The Fish at Uttoxeter last time out. Up another 3lb for that and back in trip but still looks a big player.

Well beaten recently and soon dropped out of things at Ffos Las on return from a short break. Can't be entertained despite the first-time cheekpieces here.

Back over hurdles after falling over fences at Newton Abbot last time out (was beaten at the time) and on a fair mark, but it's some while since he last got his head in front so, despite conditions being fine, others are preferred.

Winner for Mark Johnston on the Flat last year but hasn't really set the world alight over hurdles so far, doing no better for going into handicaps or indeed for dropping to selling company last time. Hard to fancy in current frame of mind and yard still finding winners hard to come by.

Stopped very quickly at Hexham last time and no surprise to see the tongue tie go on on the back of that effort, previously a beaten favourite at Towcester and jury still out as to whether this is his optimum trip. Plenty to prove here.

Can take a hold in his races but won as easy as you like at Stratford two starts ago, coming right away in the closing stages, but then well beaten over the same C&D from a 10lb higher mark next time and not hard to think the handicapper has hold of him now.

Showed some ability in novice hurdles and seemed to be getting the hang of things when last seen out, finishing a staying-on third to Galactic Power at Exeter and this step up in trip will suit. Chances if ready after a short break.

Just the one win in 24 starts and seems to have lost some of the consistency he showed a couple of years ago too, second in lower grade than this at Stratford two runs ago and may need a drop back to that company before scoring again.

In good for at present and has been unlucky to bump into two very well handicapped sorts on his last two starts, going down narrowly both times. Nothing as well handicapped here and obvious chance of the win over a C&D that clearly suits.

His third at Chepstow in April stands out like a beacon amongst the rest of his recent form, has failed to complete on either of his last two starts and the application of cheekpieces needs to have a major effect.

Forecasts

State The Obvious (10/11), Lime Street (11/4), Mondello (11/1), Tell The Tale (14/1), Samson (16/1), Rebel Beat (16/1), Juste Pour Nous (16/1), Mr Mafia (16/1), Hughesie (20/1), Whipcord (25/1), Part And Parcel (40/1)

Verdict

STATE THE OBVIOUS deserves to win one after some solid efforts against some well-handicapped rivals recently, and this looks a little bit easier. He can score at the expense of top weight Lime Street, who himself caught a tartar last time but has to give a fair bit of weight away here. Rebel Beat may be best of the rest if refreshed after a break.
  1. State The Obvious
