Winner on successive days at the May meeting here. Latest of those successes came over 2m4f on good ground. Disappointing since however including over an extended 3m at Aintree.

Stays well having won over 3m3f at Sedgefield (good) last September. Disappointing since including over fences of late but well handicapped racing off a mark 8lb lower than for that latest success with a leading amateur booked to ride also.

Running well in the main this season and finished runner-up over C&D off this mark on good ground in May. Best effort since came when runner-up in a handicap chase at Hexham on his penultimate outing but has disappointed since.

Forecasts

Lake Malawi (2/1), Johnny Go (10/3), River Icon (7/2), Scenic Star (6/1), Gold Chain (10/1), Wyfield Rose (12/1), Cinevator (20/1)

Verdict

RIVER ICON can record her second second win in three starts by taking this concluding contest. The selection was a winner on soft ground at Cartmel in May and made a satisfactory handicap debut when runner-up off a 2lb lower mark subsequently. The selection has the services of the promising Bruce Lynn in the saddle here and can get the better of Lake Malawi who finished third behind two Graded performers here last September and returns to handicaps today while Gold Chain, a winner twice at the May meeting here can claim third.
  1. River Icon
  2. Lake Malawi
  3. Gold Chain
