Successful on good-to-soft ground at Newbury over 1m2f last September but disappointing on good-to-firm ground so far this time around. Softer conditions here likely to suit but will need to overcome a wide draw if he's to take this.

Ran well when third on soft ground over an extended 1m2f at York in May but well held upped to 1m4f the last twice. Drop in trip and application of a hood for the first time in addition to returning cheekpieces may help.

Verdict

UAE PRINCE represents the in form Roger Varian and he can follow up his good fourth-placed finished in the John Smith's Cup at York by taking this competitive opening contest. The selection was a winner on good-to-soft ground last season and races off the same mark as for that York success and he can get the better of the wide drawn Khairaat who proved a disappointed at Royal Ascot but had looked progressive prior to that. Garcia, an eye-catcher when finishing fifth in the previously mentioned York event may prove best of the rest.
