Won back-to-back races over 1m4½f at Newcastle (AW) in the winter and has twice since then been competitive from 1lb lower than today, one of those over 1m6½f, though in lower grade races. Has to prove he stays this far and can handle this grade today.
At his best on fast ground (though has once won on good to soft) and sees out 2m well. Has run well, though never really threatened to win in any of his previous visits here and recent evidence suggests that he will need further assistance from the handicapper before recording a sixth career success.
His most recent win was here over 1m6f (good to firm) in June 2015 and he clearly has a liking for the venue (was runner-up in this race two years ago from an 11lb higher mark). Back to form when a ½L runner-up at Yarmouth last time and visor on then has now been swapped for blinkers. Best on good ground and could go very well from same mark today.
In tremendous form of late, winning three of his last four, including at Thirsk last week (2m, good to firm), for which he has gone up just 3lb. This is a stronger contest, but he is not ground dependent and given that he is in the form of his life, a repeat effort should see him remain very competitive.
Just about sees out 2m on the Flat, though arguably better at up to 1m5f on good or softer ground. Now a stone lower in the handicap than when last winning in 2015, though hasn't been hinting at a return to form and would like to see some market confidence if that is to occur.
Proven stayer whose seems to act on any ground, though is particularly suited to some cut. Goes into this 4lb lower than when a 2¼L runner-up in the race last year. May have been laid out to go one better, though it is a concern that she has never yet come close to a win when fresh. Otherwise, if she can run to her best she has claims.
Has won three times already this year in lower grades and is proven at up to 2m. Went well from 4lb lower at Nottingham (1m6f, good) last time and the front pair had over 3L in hand there, so she may be able to cope with this higher standard and 4lb rise. Interesting with 7lb claimer up.

Forecasts
Vercingetorix (11/4), Angel Gabrial (3/1), Saved By The Bell (4/1), Frederic (9/2), Graceful Lady (6/1), Euchen Glen (6/1), Aramist (8/1), Bulas Belle (8/1), Codeshare (16/1)
Vercingetorix and Graceful Lady both come here in cracking form and should give good account, though they will need to raise things a notch at this slightly higher level. Bulas Belle would be very interesting if supported now that she is back on a dangerous mark, though her record when fresh is otherwise offputting. Euchen Glen has stamina to prove and Frederic needs to put a below par effort behind him, so with a good record at the track, the suggestion is SAVED BY THE BELL, who came back to form last time and might have another race like this in him.
- Saved By The Bell
- Vercingetorix
- Euchen Glen
