A fairly reliable campaigner and a five time career winner, but all of his best form has generally come with cut. Races from a fair mark and has won on Fibresand (in 2011), but others hold more compelling claims.
18 race maiden, but seemingly revitalised by a spell in Point-to-Points based upon his 33/1 second placed effort here over 6f latest. Raised 4lb, but claimer effectively removes 3lb of that rise. Wears a tongue-tie for the first time.
His sole career success came over C&D in September 2016 (for Nigel Tinkler). Makes his second start for this trainer having finished fourth of seven to Nag's Wag in a Thirsk seller latest.
18 race maiden, but with a solid course profile since December 2016 (5,3,3,3). Finished behind Vecheka on his most recent course start in June, but went close at Musselburgh dropped to this trip thereafter. Beaten in a seller latest, but enters calculations.
11 race maiden who appears to be falling to a mark he should be able to compete from, but finished last of 14 when favourite for a 5f Beverley handicap latest, so needs to better that effort, and a major worry that he folded so tamely.
C&D winner for this rider in November 2016 (beat Prigsnov Dancer), and has also won at this track on turf in the more distant past. She's not the easiest to predict, but was third over this trip at Catterick in June (soft) and has claims from this mark if putting her best foot forward.
Sole win to date came in selling company, but he is slowly working his way down to what should be a competitive mark; albeit having largely gone off the boil lately.
Lightly raced (four starts) and finished in mid-division on her handicap debut at Wolverhampton (6f) earlier this month, Dropped in trip and down 3lb.
Nine race maiden, but 5f on Tapeta holds no fears (twice a runner up from similar marks at Wolverhampton earlier this year). Did okay when fourth to Roaring Rory on grass at Beverley last week, and considered in a weak race.
Closely matched with Maggi May on their clash at Beverley last week and like that rival has largely been consistent on turf from similar marks in recent weeks. Using a 5lb claimer effectively enhances his chance, and he is fairly unexposed on the AW.
14 race maiden who has been unable to break his duck in a seller and a maiden handicap on his most recent two starts and for that reason is easily passed over.
11 race maiden who to all intents and purposes appeared of limited ability until producing a clear career best third of 17 to Metisian at Doncaster last month (6f soft). The big question is whether or not she can reproduce that form back on the AW (dismal previously).

Forecasts
Maggi May (4/1), Hadley (5/1), Young Tiger (5/1), Lady Joanna Vassa (11/2), Chip Or Pellet (8/1), Harbour Lightning (8/1), Vecheka (9/1), Tinsill (9/1), Vaux (14/1), Billy's Boots (16/1), Mitchum (25/1), Digital Revolution (25/1), Henrietta's Dream (33/1)
Division 2 of the Class 6 5f handicap makes less appeal than it's counterpart 35 minutes earlier. Maggi May and Tinsill are closely matched on their recent Beverley clash and ought to be thereabouts switched back to the AW. Hadley was beaten in a seller latest, but generally runs his race at this track (without winning) and could well figure in the places once more, so whilst very tricky too predict, a chance is taken on LADY JOANNA VASSA. She is well suited by the Newcastle undulations (AW and turf), and holds strong claims from her current mark if electing to put her best foot forward from a high draw for Connor Beasley.
- Lady Joanna Vassa
- Maggi May
- Hadley
