Appears very much in the grip of the handicapper at the moment and has disappointed on all three starts so far this term. Needs to find some old form.
Scored over C&D last term off identical mark to today. Returns from a two month mid-term break and should be refreshed but stall 13 draw a concern - unless it comes up soft.
Dropping down the weights to an attractive mark if able to recapture form that saw score over C&D in may 2016. Not beaten far here last time and has a decent draw so a bold show not ruled out by any means.
Admirable 10-year-old who won over C&D very nearly four years ago. Two successes already this term and ran well when runner-up last time, but suspicion he might find a few too good on this occasion.
Five-time winner, but all on A/W. Record on turf far less impressive but ran OK here last time, staying on after meeting trouble in running. Draw probably no help this time though.
Generally at his best in high summer and his last win came a year ago today at Pontefract. Narrowly beaten last time and has a good draw so despite advancing years has to be rated a contender.
Scored at Carlisle last time out and raised 3lb for his troubles. May still be on the upgrade so should be in the mix and give another good account of himself.
Only win in last two seasons came over C&D last September. Has failed to sparkle this term however and looks as though he'll need to drop a few more pounds before troubling the judge.
Placed on five out of eight previous visits here but has yet to score at this venue. Running well enough of late though and has prsopecst, although draw could be better.
Scored twice last etrm for Richard Fahey but not got his head in front so far this campaign. Eased 3lb after poor effort last time and may be best watched for the time being.
Yard enjoying a good spell. Made all to win at Carlisle over 6f last time and this even stiffer 5f should suit, but may be vulnerable at business end of the contest.
Needs a decent surface on turf so any rain would be an issue. Third and beaten favourite at Leicester last time and needs to up his game to land this more competitive affair.
Came home well over C&D last time to be fast-finishing fifth but can't allow himself to get too far behind again today. 5lb higher than when winning at Wetherby on penultimate outing so may just be in the handicapper's grip at present.
Has great record at Southwell, but landed his first turf win here over C&D in May off 1lb lower mark. Stable going through quiet spell now though so others make more appeal.
Can give trouble at the stalls. Endured a troubled run when unplaced last time on seasonal bow. May be better for that run and is less exposed than most. Worth casting a glance for any market interest.
Forecasts
First Bombardment (4/1), Jack Luey (9/2), The Nazca Lines (6/1), Maureb (8/1), Musharrif (12/1), One Boy (12/1), Aguerooo (12/1), Crosse Fire (12/1), Bronze Beau (14/1), Bapak Asmara (16/1), Flash City (20/1), Thatcherite (20/1), Classic Pursuit (22/1), Whiteandgold (25/1), Astrophysics (50/1)
Old timer JACK LUEY is taken to land another mid-summer success. He comes good at this time of year and went close to scoring last time out. In a wide open event there are many with chances, among them recent Carlisle scorers The Nazca Line and Maureb, while Bronze Beau and First Bombardment are others who should be in the thick of the action, along with Thatcherite.
- Jack Luey
- Maureb
- Thatcherite
