Placed six times in nine starts and deserves to win a race. Kept on well when beaten a head at Wetherby last time and this two furlong trip should be within her range. Sure to be thereabouts.
Disaapointing Authorized filly who looked fairly slow when only third of four stepping up to middle distances at Catterick on her seasonal return. May impove for that run and the step up to two miles and has been given some leeway by the handicapper.
Capitulated quickly at Leicester recently and hopes rest on the extra half mile bringing about a transformation. Hard to enthuse over though despite respect for connections.
Dropping down the weights as he steps up in trip and wasn't beaten too far at Carlisle last time. Needs to get his act together and others make more appeal.
Wouldn't want any rain, but assuming the ground remains decent his efforts in two out of three starts this term have been respectable. Likely to be suited by this new trip and looks one for the short list.
Connections trying to pull a rabbit out of the hat stepping up from 10f to 16f today. Poor effort latest in seller (when made favourite) and hopes rest on staying being his game.
Beaten out of sight in three maidens so far and looks to be of very limited ability. First start in a handicap and massive jump from one to two miles look the only hope of a change.
Unlpaced in nine starts to date but seemed to see out this trip when improving to be fourth at Catterick last time. Still hard to see him winning but should be plodding on at the finish.
Good chance on her third here over 12f in May but subsequently ran poorly over 14f at Redcar. Stamina is a doubt but wouldn't surprise if return to the Westwood helped the cause.
Shown very little in three middle distance maidens but makes handicap debut off a very low mark. related to a couple of winning hurdlers so extra trip may help, but hard to enthuse over.
Very little sign of ability in her three starts so far. Stepping up to miles will need to have a tranformative effect. Yard having a quiet time and others much preferred.
At just 38 is one of the lowest rated horses-in-training. 1lb out of the handicap here and tries a new trip. Hard to imagine her winning this despite light weight.
Forecasts
Laureate (3/1), Black Prince (3/1), Piedita (4/1), Nothing Compares (7/1), General Allenby (10/1), Chionodoxa (14/1), Thomas Crown (16/1), Inspector (16/1), Sambuca Nera (20/1), Legalized (25/1), Bizet (25/1), Astroshadow (66/1)
Most of these are likely to see eight flights (or more) of hurdles in the not too distant future. This lowly staying maiden handicap might be the chance though for top weight LAUREATE to finally get off the mark after a series of decent efforts in defeat. Black Prince may be a danger if the rain stays away, while given her shrewd connections Piedita cannot be ruled out as there is still time for her to reveal some ability. Thomas Crown and Inspector are others not completely without hope.
- Laureate
- Black Prince
- Piedita
