Has experience of this track from his debut, but has progressed since then winning over 6f at Hamilton in late June (beat Poet's Prince). Likes to be on the front end, and with the ground likely to be on the quick side should make a bold bid despite the tricky wide draw.

Landed a 6f Haydock Nursery on good to firm ground just over a fortnight ago, pulling out extra towards the finish. However, this is a slightly stronger contest and he has a penalty to carry despite the ideal draw.
Not achieved enough in two starts so far at York to really be able to be considered in this contest, but it should be noted that his trainer has achieved more with his juveniles this year than has been the case previously. Improvement required.

Yet to race over further than 5f, but shaped with promise here on debut in April when just over 1L third to the Richard Guest trained Gisele's Angel. Well beaten on his next start not all that long after. Returns from a break having been gelded, so improvement is possible (but required) now upped in trip. Trainer saddles three runners.

Started at odds of 66/1 and shaped as if he needed the experience when fourth of eight at Carlisle (5f good to firm) on debut. Likely to benefit for the step up in trip, but the draw could have been much kinder.

Only managed to beat a single horse home in two starts so far and looks the type to be much better suited to nurseries once allocated a mark.

Not strong enough at the business end on debut at Carlisle late last month (6f good to soft) when fourth of eight to Byron's Choice. Likely to be better for that experience and faster ground could be helpful.

Not disgraced from a wide draw on debut when fourth of ten to Alfa McGuire at Beverley (7f+ good to firm) the weekend before last. Drops back in trip which on pedigree probably doesn't look ideal, but should be sharper for the experience.

£12,000 son of Lawman out of an unraced dam who has raced over 7f on both starts on synthetics to date. Didn't get home when caught close home by Mrs Teasdale and Oswald at Wolverhampton last week, and whilst in theory this drop in trip looks ideal, the wide berth makes life tough.

Made the frame on both starts to date at Beverley and Redcar (both 5f) and his latest third to Chatburn reads well enough. This extra furlong shouldn't be a problem and has place claims at least despite the moderate draw.
Stablemate of Sinaloa and Sandama. Unraced fifth foal by Power out of Society Gal who cost €25,000 as a yearling. She's a half-sister to winners Goldenfield, Red Icon and Bleeding Hearts and receives plenty of weight from her rivals when factoring in riders 7lb claim.

Far too green to do herself justice here on debut in early June and shaped marginally better on soft ground at Hamilton (6f) earlier in the month, but she did finish behind The Armed Man on that occasion and looks perhaps the weakest of the three runners that her trainer saddles in this contest.

Forecasts

Our Man In Havana (11/4), Wahoo (3/1), Armed Response (9/2), Danzan (7/1), Birdette (9/1), Life For Rent (16/1), Sinaloa (16/1), Powerful Society (20/1), Burnieboozle (20/1), Sandama (25/1), Lord Caprio (33/1), Foxrush Take Time (50/1), Squirrelheed (100/1)

Verdict

A trappy opener for the juveniles with a number of the fancied runners holding disadvantageous high draws. The Armed Man likes to race prominently and whilst he's the form horse, he'll need to break smartly to get across from out wide and could conceivably be cut off by Danzan (drawn 13) on his outer. Wahoo has some decent form, but he's only marginally better drawn in stall ten, and whilst this step up in trip will suit he might encounter traffic problems in cutting through the pack. Our Man In Havana has a good berth and looked a hardy battler when winning at Haydock so he ought to be considered, but a chance is taken at bigger odds on SINALOA. Richard Fahey saddles three runners, but this son of Camacho appears to be the pick, and he might be capable of taking a big step forward now gelded and upped in trip to 6f.
  1. Sinaloa
  2. Our Man In Havana
  3. Wahoo
