Showed more last time out when third at Ayr in the hood that he wore for the first time (well-backed on that occasion). Still hasn't won though since taking the Newbury Super Sprint as a juvenile but ought to be a capable off a mark (82) such as this.

Formerly a winner over C&D her last wins came back-to-back last July at Chepstow and Ascot. Winless since then she's run some creditable races off higher marks the best of which came here on her penultimate start against a rival very much on the up. Didn't repeat that form last time out and she may still need a little more help from the handicapper.

Managed to end a two year losing run when taking a Wolverhampton AW 5f handicap off a much reduced mark. Form after that tailed off quickly until he's looked rejuvenated of late although he made his effort from too far back last time out and often doesn't hold his form for long.

His last two wins came under a then promising apprentice and it's encouraging to see another such rider take the reins again today. Those two wins came over 6f and 5f and he's now fallen back below those winning marks having shaped better than his final position on his last two starts. Not without a chance off a mark of 78 and he is a past dual C&D winner.

Hardly a prolific winner of late with the Ripon dead-heat in April at Ripon over 5f ending a long losing run. The majority of his runs since have shown that he's still in form and his head defeat at Ayr last time out with a couple of today's rivals behind easily matched that "winning" form. Should be able to give his running again here from the same mark as at Ayr and Ripon.

Now off a mark that is below his last winning one he shaped well last time out at Doncaster over 5f in a race that didn't quite go his way after he was typically slowly away. That form has been franked by the third already and a strongly run contest here would be to his advantage off this mark and he's one for the shortlist.

A real Fibresand expert with seven of his eight career wins coming on that unique surface. Unsurprisingly he's rated a lot lower on this surface but ran his best turf race last time out when second to one that was clearly well-in at the weights. Runs off just 4lb higher here and will be a danger to all if able to repeat his last run.

Previous course and C&D winner who ended a long losing run returned to 5f at Wolverhampton in March. Looks better on the AW these days with his most recent turf run being a disappointing one and others are more fancied here.

His handicap mark has been in steady decline since his AW win in December 2015 without him ever looking like he's going to take advantage. Faced stiff tasks on his last two start but overall not one to have that much faith in.

Forecasts

Razin' Hell (7/2), Lathom (4/1), Foxy Forever (5/1), African Friend (5/1), Midnight Malibu (11/2), Foxtrot Knight (13/2), Landing Night (7/1), Jabbarockie (10/1), Tarboosh (14/1), Invincible Ridge (16/1), Cruise Tothelimit (18/1), Ballesteros (20/1), Dusty Blue (20/1), Seve (25/1), Memories Galore (25/1), Red Stripes (33/1)

Verdict

Needless to say that this looks fairly open with quite a few having chances although African Friend looks to be a useful handicapper over sprint trips in the making although his likely price does make him look little value here. Lathom ought to be able to win a race off a mark such as this given his past form and the topically named Ballesteros should have a chance off this sort of mark. If Razin’ Hell can hold his form on turf again he would be a danger to all along with the dangerous Foxtrot Knight. In the end though LANDING NIGHT is now off a decent mark having run well last time out and in a contest that should be run to suit and he offers some value here.
  1. Landing Night
  2. African Friend
  3. Ballesteros
