It's now going on for two years since he last managed to get his nose in front and he is 4lb lower than that most recent winning effort. Went very close from 1lb lower than today at Doncaster last time (6f, good to soft) and blinkers may help him this time, although the faster ground probably won't.
Scored over this trip on fast ground at Ripon last season when 7lb higher, but after several abortive attempts in Listed company, she was well beaten back in a handicap from 5lb higher than today at Pontefract last time. Has now been given a chance by the handicapper and really ought to be capable of a return to better form.
Back on the same mark as when last seen winning at Yarmouth (6f, good to soft) last season. Stays 7f and goes well on good to firm too, while he showed signs of a revival over C&D (soft) last time. Should be thereabouts.
Has won over this trip on fast ground, though most of his wins have been on good or slower ground, including the latest of them at Doncaster (6f, heavy) in May. 3lb higher today and well held from similar marks on his last two starts, so comes here with a bit to prove.
Yet to record a win on ground faster than good and has a heavy ground C&D claimer win to his name from last season. Arrives here in form after scoring at Ayr (6f, good) last time, though a 4lb rise will probably mean that another career best is required.
Very consistent performer for Keith Dalgleish and after wins at both Carlisle (6f, good) and here over C&D (soft) on his last two starts, he changed hands for 38,000gns at the recent July sale. Has gone up another 3lb for that latest success, but you couldn't rule out a winning start for these connections.
Forecasts
Hee Haw (7/4), Eccleston (2/1), Gilmer (6/1), Harwoods Volante (13/2), Khelman (14/1), Glenrowan Rose (16/1)
Harwoods Volante looked to be coming back to form last time and should again go well, while Gilmer is in good heart at present and cannot be ruled out. Eccleston will find it tougher in these conditions and after being nudged back up in the weights, while Glenrowan Rose's trainer Keith Dalgleish will have the inside line on his filly's chance in relation to his former inmate HEE HAW, who gets the vote here to complete a hat-trick on his first start for Paul Midgley.
- Hee Haw
- Gilmer
- Harwoods Volante
