Had threatened on a few occasions before coming good at Catterick last week (7f, good to soft). Had a bit in hand there and so defying a 6lb penalty does not look beyond her. Should again give a very good account, although the draw could have been more kind to her.

Goes into this on a 6lb lower mark than when winning it last year, which was her most recent of eight successes. Has been busy so far this season and made the frame on several occasions, so can't be ruled out in her repeat bid from this mark.

Has not yet eclipsed her debut effort in two subsequent runs, but looks a competent performer who might be able to show a fair bit more now that she goes handicapping. Mark looks a reasonable one and a market check is suggested to gauge confidence in her ability to defy it.

0-10 so far and looked like she might finally get off the mark at Salisbury last month, when eventually a short-head runner-up (1m, good to firm). Raised 4lb since her latest defeat at Chepstow. Now dropped back to 7f and cheekpieces on for the first time. Should be thereabouts.

Sole turf win was over this trip on good ground at Catterick two years ago. 2lb higher than that today and went very close from this mark at Doncaster (7f, good to firm) last time. Generally consistent at this level and should be right there at the business end.

Former William Haggas inmate who went close to winning her first two starts for this trainer in 7f All Weather maidens in the winter. Has been dropped 5lb by the handicapper and connections now feel that handicapping is worth a try, One of the more likely contenders tonight.

Both wins have been over this trip on All Weather surfaces. Best efforts on turf have been with some cut in the ground, so today's forecast ground does not look ideal and that will make it tough despite a 2lb drop.

Yet to make the frame in nine starts and has tumbled a stone in the weights since going handicapping. Has left David Elsworth for current yard since her last run in March and needs to find plenty of improvement, even taking into account her latest 4lb drop.

1-26, the sole win being at Wetherby (1m, good) two years ago. That was from a 6lb lower mark, but she has run several good races in defeat since, including when beaten just a neck at Doncaster (1m, soft) last time. Should be thereabouts.

Best effort so far was in a Redcar maiden (6f, good) in May. Never in it on her handicap debut at Leicester (6f, good to firm) last time when beaten 11L from a mark of 65. 3lb lower today, blinkers added for first-time and yard in decent form, so a much better effort is not ruled out.

Well beaten in all three starts in maidens and makes her handicap debut from a workable mark of 50. Precautionary market check advised, though unless confidence is high she looks one to watch this time.

Won a York seller last year (6f, good) but has been in the grip of the handicapper since moving into this sphere 12 months ago, dropping 27lb in eight handicap starts, the last three for this yard. Was doing her best work at the finish at Ayr last time, but looks a risky proposition at present.

Forecasts

Totally Magic (9/4), The Stalking Moon (11/4), Rosy Ryan (6/1), Halinka (13/2), Cabal (10/1), Yorkshire Pudding (20/1), Mia Cara (20/1), Lovely Acclamation (20/1), Nellie Deen (28/1), Circulate (33/1), Melaniemillie (40/1), Maid In Brittain (66/1), Bertha Burnett (66/1)

Verdict

Several in here will feel that they have claims. Halinka has some solid form in defeats and cheekpieces are now added, but she probably won't represent much value. Yorkshire Pudding could do better over this trip and in some headgear, while Totally Magic, Circulate and Rosy Ryan are others who have the ability to have a say. Last year's winner Cabal can't be ruled out from this lower mark, but THE STALKING MOON had a bit in hand when winning last time and is taken to defy a penalty.
