Has won a couple of these in recent times at Lingfield over 5f and 6f on the Polytrack, though she also acts on fast ground on turf. Ran well in the context of this race to finish a 2½L runner-up in a Leicester handicap last time and looks a contender.
1-18, his win being in a 5f Newcastle (AW) handicap in September from a mark of 47. Has rarely threatened since for Nigel Tinkler and now has his first run for this yard. Good though Paul Midgley is with sprinters, it still takes a leap of faith to see him getting this one home in front at the weights here.
Has been running with credit in minor handicaps, including when runner-up by a neck at Musselburgh last time (5f, good). Also went close here in a seller (6f, good to firm) in May. Should be thereabouts, but winning won't be easy.
Won one of these at Leicester (7f, good to soft) last year on his first start for this yard, but it has been all downhill since then. Now 18lb lower than he was that day and has been well held in sellers and a claimer since, so still not easy to enthuse about a sudden revival this time.
Won a novices' auction contest (5f, AW) at Wolverhampton last year and returned there to finish runner-up in a claimer. Turf form leaves plenty to be desired and has been well beaten in his first two outings for this yard. Very hard to recommend today.
Broke his maiden over 6f at Wolverhampton last year and went close at Newcastle in handicap company from a mark of 74 later on. Also has form at the north-east track in a claimer. Returns here after a break, but if she is straight enough then she has the best chance at the weights here.
Made the frame in a couple of handicaps from marks of 59 and 60, but has shown little in her last three runs and is now dropped to this grade. She should be capable of getting more closely involved now and a has frame claims.
Forecasts
Semana Santa (2/1), Hadley (5/2), Nag's Wag (11/4), Chip Or Pellet (14/1), Emerald Secret (14/1), Chevalier du Lac (16/1), King Of Castilla (66/1)
SEMANTA SANTA is best off here at the weights and, while that is not always the key to these contests, David Barron looks to have found a good opportunity for her. Nag's Wag looks a danger based on her latest effort, while Emerald Secret looks the pick of the Paul Midgley-trained pair and should not be far away. Hadley is another who should be involved in the battle for the minors.
