Had won two of his last three outings prior to pulling up at Bangor two months ago. Has been absent since and both of those wins came over 3m1f, interesting back to 3m, following 13th of 17, beaten 56L last day over 2m3f.

Came good at the first time of asking in a handicap at Stratford in May, showing a good turn of foot late on to pick the runner-up off. Ran to a similar level a Worcester, but fifth of 12, beaten 36L last time out in Uttoxeter handicap hurdle last month.

Looked a reformed character in two recent starts, traveling well and finding plenty for pressure in wins at at Southwell and Market Rasen, before third of 10, beaten 9½L at 3/1f in Uttoxeter handicap hurdle.

Five-times winning chaser, but 0-13 over hurdles and a recent effort in this sphere, here, hardly shouted imminent victory.

Bounced back to form to land a 66/1 shock last day in Worcester handicap hurdle over 2m7f on good ground winning by a shorthead.

15/2
Not won since 2015 and now 12lb below his last winning mark now and was running consistently well towards the end of last year. Well beaten and no impression on three seasonal starts at Towcester, Newton Abbott and Stratford

Table Bluff12
Age: 8|  Weight: 10-10| J: N de Boinville| T: David Drinkwater| OR:  81| C

On a winning mark but must be a question over the suitability of this trip given best efforts have come at 2m.

Oskar Denariush,t19
Age: 6|  Weight: 10-9| J: Nick Scholfield| T: J Mason| OR:  80

Seems to be slowly getting the hang of things and not disgraced in a handicap at Southwell last time out, travelled well off the pace and stayed on late, before seventh of 10, beaten 79L in Newton Abbott novice handicap hurdle over 2m2f.

Kristal Start23
Age: 5|  Weight: 10-6| J: Harry Bannister| T: A M Hales| OR:  77
9/1
Didn't seem to stay the trip at Uttoxeter in June, so that run best forgiven, but tailed off and pulled up last day, over 2m½f in Market Rasen handicap hurdle.

French Seventyfiveb20
Age: 10|  Weight: 10-0| J: Miss E Todd(7)| T: G Boanas| OR:  68| CD
8/1
Has shown the majority of his best form at Southwell, and notched a quickfire hurdles/fences double during May 2016. Encouraging third of nine, though beaten 16L last month over CD.

Forecasts

Arboretum (3/1), Amber Flush (9/2), Pearlita (6/1), The Kvilleken (15/2), French Seventyfive (8/1), Kristal Star (9/1), Oskar Denarius (11/1), Table Bluff (16/1), No Through Road (16/1), Drive On Locky (20/1)

Verdict

French Seventyfive could make the early running here, with Table Bluff, Pearlita and, possibly, Drive On Locky following in behind. The Mike Soweby-trained, ABORETUM, can return to form here, under Andrew Tinkler, who looked a reformed character in two recent starts, traveling well and finding plenty for pressure in wins at at Southwell and Market Rasen. The Kvillenken and Kristal Star can fill the places.
  1. Arboretum
  2. The Kvilleken
  3. Kristal Star
