Won a couple of times over 7½f at Beverley last season on a sound/fast surface. Has largely been held by the assessor since then but went close at that venue over a similar trip and from the same mark as this last time, so has a chance here under a 5lb claimer.

Races over his optimum trip here and has wins to his name on both good to firm and good to soft. However, has been on the slide for some time without any signs of a revival and is not easy to recommend with any confidence.

Has shown some promise in three handicaps over 6f-7f so far, all from 1lb higher marks. This drop will help and he goes on the ground, so he is very likely to be on the premises again.

Has now dropped 11lb in total after three defeats in handicaps this season, but was getting closer to the action at Newcastle (1m, AW) last time. A further 4lb drop plus the application of cheekpieces makes her more interesting today, but she has it to prove on turf.

Came good in her first handicap experience at Newcastle (1m, AW) last time, when she was doing her best work at the finish. She looked like she could still improve for the run, so a 3lb rise for this does not look insurmountable.

Sole win in 23 starts was ar Redcar (1m2f, good to firm) in April, but has been in the grip of the handicapper in three further starts. A 1lb drop is not obviously going to change that this time.

Has been tried from 6f-1m2½f in four starts so far, the most recent being his handicap debut at Cork (1m½f, good to firm), when he was well beaten. Has to shown a fair bit of improvement to get competitive here.

Has only once raced on turf, when well beaten on his debut at Nottingham last year. Comes here having made the frame at Wolverhampton (1½f, AW) last time but was still beaten over 5L there and a 2lb drop does not obviously inspire confidence in a maiden success here.

Plummeting in the ratings after a string of hefty defeats and has now dropped 17lb since going handicapping in October. Has beaten only one rival home in those four handicaps, so a first-time visor and a further 5lb drop will need to have a dramatic effect for him to turn it around.

0-15, with only one finish in the money so far, which came at Ballinrobe two starts ago. 1lb lower for this British debut and has been competitive from higher marks, so is entitled to respect.

Has been competitive a few times despite not yet breaking his duck and a further 2lb drop will help with that here. The step up to 1m may also elicit some improvement and a market check is suggested.

Has been in reasonable form despite finishing out of the money so far, but showed again last time at Ayr that she does need to find something if she is to trouble the judge. Looks best watched until stronger hints at that are forthcoming.

Belisa (2/1), Pronounced (7/2), Let Right Be Done (5/1), Arcane Dancer (7/1), Coral Princess (10/1), Cline (12/1), Kensington Palace (12/1), Kerry Icon (14/1), Pennington (20/1), The King's Steed (20/1), Stardrifter (22/1), Templemary Boy (25/1), Palindrome (25/1), Breaking Free (40/1)

Verdict

Very moderate fayre here and the suggestion is ARCANE DANCER, who carries a 5lb claimer today and that might tip the scales in her favour. Kensington Palace looks capable of being very competitive and Belisa is another for the short-list after her recent Newcastle success. Pronounced is an interesting Irish raider and should not be far away.
