Came on well for his Catterick debut when scoring over C&D last time on fast ground. Carries a penalty for that narrow success, though the front pair were 2L clear, so there may be more to come and a follow up is not ruled out.

Last of 11 on debut at Carlisle and so it wasn't difficult to improve on that over 6f here last time (soft) when he did so, but was still beaten over 13L. Looks one to be considering more positively when entering nursery company.

Made good progress for his Pontefract debut when beaten just over 4L into fourth at Thirsk (6f, good) last time. No reason why he can't do better still today and he may well be in the shake-up.

More experienced than most of these and strung together three decent efforts in May and June, including a C&D win (good). Couldn't reproduce that back here last time under a penalty, but can be forgiven one under par effort and this pacesetter is respected.

Has been competitive in three of his five starts in Ireland, though his last two runs were over further than this and his form dipped to some extent. The return to this trip may bring a more positive result and he should be thereabouts.

Came on nicely for his Ripon debut when beaten just a short-head over C&D (good) last time. That looks like decent form in context and he should be capable of more improvement, which would entitle him to decent claims here.

Well beaten on both starts to date and didn't make much in the way of improvement from his first run to his second, despite the step up to this trip. Looks best watched.

Last of 11 on debut and beaten over 11L at Redcar (5f, good to firm). Never involved in the contest there, so will need plenty of improvement for the experience to take a hand this time.

Was still a little green over C&D last time (good), but made improvement on her Ripon debut that day. 5lb claim will help her cause tonight and she should be capable of being involved in the shake-up.

Well backed for her debut over 6f here but didn't appear to see it out and was beaten 6L. Soft ground may not have helped, so today's conditions and a drop in trip could be the key to us seeing what was anticipated first time. Interesting.

Forecasts

Camacho Chief (11/4), Undercover Brother (7/2), Spirit Power (7/2), Villa Tora (6/1), Corton Lass (15/2), Lina's Star (10/1), Situation (22/1), Savannah's Show (33/1), Ray Purchase (50/1), Westfield Wonder (150/1)

Verdict

Spirit Power is very much respected in a potentially competitive heat, but LINA'S STAR must have been showing something at home to be as well supported as she was for her debut here, when perhaps both trip and ground conspired against her. Over the minimum and on better ground she is given a second chance. Corton Lass could also go well, while winners Undercover Brother and Villa Tora should have a say under their penalties.
  1. Lina's Star
  2. Spirit Power
  3. Corton Lass
