Already a winner from the front over C&D in May he may find things harder now off a higher mark and with a contested lead here. Not run that well since his win here and went off too hard last time out and there's a danger that could happen again here.
Quite a useful handicapper whose last two wins have both come over this trip and that looked to be the catalyst for his last win at Ripon over this trip off a 6lb lower mark. Well below par on his last run though on the AW at Newcastle (awkward leaving stalls) and needs to bounce back here off a mark that he's never won off.
Took advantage of a fall in the weights to score on the AW at Wolverhampton over this trip in January but has looked a touch out of sorts of late in a couple of runs here off a 2lb higher mark. Sort that needs everything to drop into place and will probably find one or two too good here.
Another in the field that loves to go from the front and has also won over C&D. Very much looks to be running into form of late as shown by his good second at Beverley last time out when he dominated a small field off this mark. May find things slightly more difficult here but shouldn't be far away from winning when he gets his conditions.
His only win so far came over a mile on the AW and another who likes to race up with the pace although this trip may test him. His last run was sub-standard and he's best watched here given the circumstances.
Bounced back to her best last time out when dictating the pace at Wetherby over 1m2f and turning in what looked to be a career best performance. That was in an easier grade than this and with an awkward draw plus a contested pace she may have too much on her plate here.
Has shown some useful form in the past particularly at Nottingham and Hamilton usually from a front-running or prominent position. Has shown his form of one occasion this year at Leicester but his last two efforts around here have appeared to be below-par and this 1m4f trip does appear to stretch him.
Quite a useful hurdler who still plys his trade on the Flat and won his last outing in this sphere at Redcar over 1m2f off a mark of 70. Has run a reasonable race since over hurdles (wore cheekpieces for the first time on the Flat) and comes here with a chance and a race that looks as though it will be run to suit.
Can hamper his chance with a slow start and one of those would not be ideal around this circuit where it doesn't pay to get too far behind. Looks as though the Tapeta surface may suit him best but is ridden by a master around here from a very good draw and not written off easily.
In good form earlier in the year on the AW (all his Flat wins have come on artificial surfaces) but has run well enough on turf before. Last few runs have been good enough but there are question marks about the trip and the fact that he will have to cope with a contested pace.
Yet another pace angle in the field who has won four times at Hamilton and on each occasion has made all of the running. Looks to save his best for Hamilton and faces pace pressure here which may hamper his chances.
Forecasts
Suitor (5/2), Cornborough (4/1), Save The Bees (5/1), Amy Blair (8/1), Cape Banjo (10/1), Storm King (12/1), Age of Elegance (14/1), Theos Lolly (16/1), Lord Franklin (16/1), Modernism (16/1), Celtic Artisan (50/1)
One element that should not be missing from this race is pace with at least three to four who generally go forward and if that happens contenders like Save The Bees, Amy Blair, Storm King and Lord Franklin are going to be disadvantaged. Given that scenario it may well be best to look for one that comes from off the pace and SUITOR looks to fit that bill and he’ll be well ridden by the King of Chester – Franny Norton. Cornborough is another who should be suited by the way this is run and has a good chance of following up his Redcar win.
- Suitor
- Cornborough
- Save The Bees
