Admirable servant to his owner and has taken on a new lease of life since switching to Ruth Carr. Landed a Group Two at Sandown before adding the Diomed Stakes at Epsom to his haul. Beat Gabrial a neck that day and renews rivalry on better terms here. Always tough to beat and the stable could not be in better form.
Still to prove himself at this level and fears his latest race at Leopardstown may prove tactical were well founded. Up in trip here and sure to get a better pace here but on form he looks a few pounds short.
Has twice come up short against Sovereign Debt this term and was comfortably held by Mutakayyef when third in this last year. Easy to see him being thereabouts but harder to see him winning.
Had Gabrial almost 6L behind when making a belated reappearance at Haydock last year to land a Group Three. Outclassed in better company next time and has had a further break since. Looks up to this level and rider 15-55 for the trainer.
Multiple European Group winner whose best effort came in an Italian Group 2 back in 2015. Respectable fifth in the Queen Anne and has work to do to catch Mutakayyef as a result.
Landed this cosily 12 months ago and holds Gabrial on that form. Beat Sovereign Debt at York last year with something to spare and has made further progress since. An excellent second to Ribchester in the Queen Anne last time makes him the one to beat.
4-13 record in France but has come up short in two previous attempts in Group company. Looks out of his depth here.
Forecasts
Mutakayyef (4/7), Sovereign Debt (5/1), Hathal (13/2), Firmament (12/1), Kaspersky (14/1), Gabrial (20/1), Zalamea (50/1)
MUTAKAYYEF landed this 12 months ago and has little more to in order to follow up. His run behind Ribchester in the Queen Anne shows he has improved further in the last 12 months and he should account for the in form Sovereign Debt having beaten the grey at York last summer. Ruth Carr has got a bit extra from Sovereign Debt this year and he has earned a crack at this. he should again account for Gabrial but a line through that horse gives him something to find with the selection. A line through Gabrial makes Hathal one to consider having had the Fahey horse almost 6L behind when scoring on his reappearance at Haydock last autumn.
- Mutakayyef
- Sovereign Debt
- Hathal
