Beat the subsequent winner of another Class 3 handicap last time at Haydock and, given his obvious scope for improvement, he looks well treated for his handicap debut. Stable continue in form and regular rider is on board.
Has met some smart horses this term whilst striking up a good partnership with this rider. Unable to get in a blow behind an enterprisingly ridden winner last time and this extra furlong will help.
Proved himself to be a hard puller when with John Gosden and he was dropped in behind on stable debut a month ago. He failed to mount a serious challenge that day and it will be interesting to see what tactics are adopted here. Certainly gives the impression there is more to come when his shrewd handler figures him out.
Has improved drastically of late with two AW victories in much lower grade than this. Needs to prove himself equally effective on turf and an 8lb rise in the weights, plus a significant upgrade in opposition, set him a stern test.
Back to his best on firm ground last time but that has earned some punishment from the handicapper. Conditions are unlikely to be as quick here but his yard are in form.
Winner of a Lingfield maiden in January who has gone well in two starts at Kempton lately. Turf form is nowhere near as strong and that is reflected in his handicap mark. Will need conditions to dry out significantly to improve any chance he may have.
Reeled off a hat-trick to start the year all on the AW but his subsequent runs have shown him to be better on the AW and he doesn't look to have much scope off this mark on turf.
Forecasts
Juanito Chico (2/1), Addeybb (3/1), Mutawakked (5/1), Abatement (11/2), Pastime (9/1), Poetic Force (14/1), Shamrokh (20/1)
With conditions forecast to be on the slow side it appears that ADDEYBB is the one to side with. As a son of Pivotal, and having handled similar ground well last time, he does not share the same fears as the connections of Mutawakked and Abatement. The Haggas gelding beat a subsequent winner of a handicap and with that rival now rated in the 90s he looks well in here. Juanito Chico has been beaten by some smart types this season and will relish this trip in these conditions. However, he may be meeting another potentially smart horse here.
- Addeybb
- Juanito Chico
- Mutawakked
