Returns to a trip which we know suits having raced both over hurdles and an extended 1m3f on the Flat since finishing runner up to Perfect Quest in a 1m2f Chepstow fillies handicap in early May. 3lb above her last winning mark.
A 13 race maiden who was a runner up over this trip at Lingfield in May, and went well enough on his sole visit to this track (fourth over 1m in June 2016). Dropped marginally in the weights.
Made a winning debut at this track (1m soft) in October 2014, but has raced on only three occasions since and missed the entire calendar year in 2016. Ran an acceptable race on his return at Goodwood last month, and can be expected to be sharper despite the drop in trip.
A soft ground win at Bath and a victory on the AW at Lingfield represent his two wins from 13 attempts. Decent effort to finish third, having raced wide, at Lingfield (1m2f, good to firm) last time, and returns to action having been taken out of a planned engagement here last week.
Done all of his winning for previous trainers Peter Makin and Richard Hughes over shorter trips, including over 1m1f at this track (with cut). Returned from a break for his new trainer over C&D last month when sixth of 16 to The Major.
Veteran who has enjoyed a purple patch of late winning over longer trips at Chepstow and Bath on very differing surfaces. Unable to get involved when seeking to land the hat-trick at Bath last week (fourth), and whilst this more conventional track (longer straight) should suit, the drop in trip is a concern.
Yet to race beyond 1m with his sole career success in seven starts coming over 7f at Leicester in October 2016. Worth a try over this trip to find out if he stays, and the 'go-to' rider for these races is booked to ride.
Ten race maiden who finished a never nearer seventh of 16 to The Major (Wordismybond sixth) over C&D in mid June. Dropped 3lb in the weights since, but others still look more realistic winners.
Won by a neck over this trip at Lingfield (good to firm) from a 4lb lower mark on her penultimate start, and possibly didn't get home over further at Windsor latest. Has some reasonable enough previous form over 1m, and a leading rider booked tonight.
Hasn't been the most consistent over the past 18 months or so and has predominately raced over 1m. Out of form on his last couple of starts after finishing runner up in a Class 7 handicap on the Polytrack at Kempton in February, so tough to make a case for him.
Seven race maiden, but shaped well enough on his first try at this trip when 2¾L third of nine to African at Windsor (good to firm) last month. Needs to prove conclusively that he stays, but as a three-year-old is far less exposed than some.
Her sole career success came in a four runner seller at Lingfield in June (1m3f+ good to firm), and her overall profile suggests that she's of very limited ability. Drop in trip should be fine given her run style (leads).
Forecasts
Hawridge Glory (7/2), Orithia (4/1), Milky Way (5/1), Raj Balaraaj (7/1), Pack It In (15/2), Ataman (12/1), Rum Swizzle (14/1), Grams And Ounces (16/1), Affair (25/1), Pretty Jewel (25/1), Wordismybond (25/1), Breakheart (50/1)
A race which doesn't make too much appeal for punting purposes. The younger (less exposed) horses in the line up are rather unsurprisingly partnered by the more experienced riders. Simon Walker is aboard Raj Balaraaj, and his mount is unexposed after just seven career starts, but tries this trip for the first time. Serena Brotherton takes the ride on the Seamus Durack trained Orithia, and this Lingfield winner ought to be suited by dropping back in trip to 1m2f. However, the Brian Meehan trained PACK IT IN just gets the nod having returned to form at Lingfield last month, and comes into this race on a reasonable handicap mark (70).
- Pack It In
- Orithia
- Rum Swizzle
