Winner here form a 3lb lower mark last September, so the track holds no terrors, but that was on softer ground. Efforts on quicker not so good, but did look to be coming back to form at Ayr last time (again, good to soft) so may not be far away from winning.

Hard to knock her efforts over the past year or so, winner on both the Flat and took a decent Mare's handicap at Galway over hurdles. Acts on all ground, is already a winner at the track (hurdles) and still looks on the right side of the handicapper after latest Ripon win.

Old boy tends to run his race more often that, but finds winning hard, as a record of just six wins from 101 starts demonstrates. Trip track and ground all fine but as ever, may find others that bit stronger at the finish.

Big prices all starts in maidens but sent off 7-2f for his handicap debut at Bath (when significantly upped in trip) and duly obliged. Ran to a similar level next time, cheekpieces reached for now and probably needs to settle better if he's to get home over this longer trip.

Forecasts

Newt (1/1), Hurricane Hollow (2/1), Transpennine Star (5/2), Our Kylie (7/2), Parole (10/1), Kashmiri Sunset (14/1), Aramist (14/1), Jan Smuts (16/1)

Verdict

Newt is likely to try and make all here, but she really needs to learn how to race without expending too much energy early or she'll find the petrol tank reading empty on that final climb for home. That might happen, but preference is for HURRICANE HOLLOW who looks too well handicapped on his hurdles exploits to ignore, and has plenty going for him here. Our Kylie has been superbly placed by connections and has been found another suitable opportunity here, and can get in the money again.
