Drops back in trip here after being short-headed on her second handicap start at Ripon (1m2f, good) last time. Has yet to encounter ground as quick as this, but looks to be going the right way and looks a leading player from 2lb higher.
Was beaten just 1L in a similar race to this at Ripon (1m, good to firm) in April and ran to a similar level of form at Chester a couple of starts ago. Either side of that he could not quite hit that level and he looks likely to need to return to that today if he is to win, even from this 1lb lower mark.
Won twice over 7f last season, including a conditions event, though he is still searching for his first handicap win after four attempts. Well held in all four starts this term but cut in the ground could have been an excuse last time and in this grade and on fast ground he is not ruled out.
Has been busy since making his debut at Musselburgh in May and got off the mark on his third outing in a Beverley maiden at the end of that month. Well held in both handicaps since then so, from the same mark again today, he needs to find plenty to get competitive.
Was a 43L last of nine on his first run on turf at Epsom (7f, good) last time out, though he does have two 6f All Weather wins to his name. The second of those was from just 4lb lower than today, but this is stronger and he looks to have an unenviable task.
Broke his duck here over C&D (firm) in a maiden in May in first-time cheekpieces. Well beaten next time, though did better from 2lb higher than today at Haydock last time and there is optimism that he could finish much closer here.
Won back to back at Kempton and then Chepstow (1m, good to firm) earlier in the season, the latter from 2lb lower than today. Well held over 1m3f last time, so the return to this trip looks positive and not ruled out.
Forecasts
Dowayla (5/2), Arctic Sea (4/1), International Law (4/1), Devil's Bridge (5/1), Rebel De Lope (6/1), Gloriosus (10/1), Alkashaaf (20/1)
DOWAYLA is given the vote here now that she is dropped in trip, in the hope that she can produce what is required on this firmer surface. Devil's Bridge would have claims if able to run up to his ability, while Rebel De Lope and International Law look the others to strongly consider.
