Placed twice in maiden company for previous stable last season but well held in three outings over 1m for current yard. Drops in trip today.
Sole success came over 6f at Ripon (good) as a two-year-old. Has run well the last twice including when runner-up at Nottingham (good-to-firm) on his penultimate outing. Interesting runner in this.
Well beaten in four starts so far this season including at Thirsk (good) last week. Now rated 6lb lower than when winning on good-to-soft ground at Leicester last August.
Maiden after seven starts and had just two starts on turf so far. Finished runner-up over 6f at Wolverhampton on the AW last month but disappointed off this 1lb higher mark last time.
Best effort since winning off a 1lb higher mark at Wolverhampton last August came when runner-up at Salisbury (good-to-firm) on his penultime outing. Ground probably softer than ideal when well held at Goodwood last time.
Lingfield AW winner off a 4lb lower mark over 5f in May but well held twice since including over 6f at Ayr (good) last time out. Yard have a 50% strike-rate of late (3/6) but more needed to take this.
Seven time winner in a 45 race career to date. Completed a hat-trick when winning off an 8lb higher mark at Chelmsford last August. Disappointing in the main since and others make more appeal.
Stepped up on debut for this yard when finishing third of 13 over 6f at Chepstow (good-to-firm) last time out. Races off a 1lb lower mark here and vulnerable to a few of his rivals here.
Broke his maiden when winning a modest contest over 6f at Lingfield on the AW in April. Ran well on return to handicap company over this distance at Brighton (good-to-firm) last time out and likely to run well again today.
In decent form in the spring placing at Brighton (good-to-firm) and Goodwood (good) over 6f. Beaten a head when second at the latter but held twice since and remains a maiden after 32 starts.
Successful twice already this season including on his penultimate outing at Catterick (good-to-firm) over this distance. Finished fifth of ten over 5f at the same course on soft ground last time and has won at this course in the past.
Two modest efforts since finishing third of eight over 6f at Kempton in March. Rated 2lb lower than when winning at Thirsk (good) over this distance in April last year.
Beaten a minimum of 11L in three maiden starts and tailed off when making his handicap debut over 1m in a Class 7 contest at Chelmsford last time out.
No show in five starts to date including in blinkers (replaced by cheekpieces here) last time out. Others make more appeal in this contest.
Forecasts
Forever Yours (5/1), Cat Silver (11/2), Frank Cool (11/2), Athollblair Boy (6/1), Chetan (8/1), Etienne Gerard (17/2), Langley Vale (14/1), Frangarry (14/1), Sir Geoffrey (16/1), Deer Song (18/1), Doctor Parkes (20/1), Blistering Dancer (33/1), Tilly's Bridge (100/1), Zerafino (100/1)
SIR GEOFFREY can record his third victory of 2017 by making all in this competitive looking opening contest. The selection wasn't able to dominate when finishing fifth at Catterick last time but may be granted a soft lead here and he can see off Frank Cool who finished runner-up on his return to handicap company at Brighton last time while Athollblair Boy has run well the last twice and can get the better of Frangarry in the race for the third.
- Sir Geoffrey
- Frank Cool
- Athollblair Boy
