Essentially hasn't done that much of note since he was a two-year old (won at Salisbury on his second start) and has tumbled down the weights since then and has left Richard Hannon. Looks the type to strike for this yard and would not be the biggest surprise to see him run well off a career low mark.

A Catterick winner last season over 6f on heavy ground he bounced back to form there last month winning over 5f having hinted at better to come on his previous outing. Never looked likely to follow up that win last time ay Hamilton over 6f and generally reserves his best for Catterick now.

A real old character and course favourite who needs no introduction having recorded all his wins here (eight of them; five over C&D) and he's already scored here this year in May finding his form from out of the blue. Hasn't really fired in two of his three runs since but takes a drop in grade today and is more than capable of making his presence felt.

Winner of a Catterick claimer last year over 5f and shaped as if he retained all his ability on his reappearance at Beverley in May again over 5f. Two runs since have seen no progress though although the ease in the handicap allows him to drop into 0-60 grade for the first time with the tongue-tie going on for the first time.

Another course regular with two wins to his name here from 16 runs although both wins have come over 5f. Very rarely ventures outside of Scotland nowadays in fact last did so at Redcar in May 2014 and have never done so for his current yard. Hasn't really fired this season and is 4lb below his last winning mark and generally picks up a race each year.

A dual Catterick winner last year over 5f both times with plenty of give in the ground off much higher marks (59 & 65) he's been in freefall in the weights of late after losing his way. Now with a yard that can turn horses like this around he's shown a little promise in both starts for the yard so far and now off a mark of 49 he should be watched in the market for this shrewd yard who are in decent form.

Has only shown poor form so far in three maiden runs and the other thing progressive about him has been the prices that he starts at are getting bigger each time. Tried at trips ranging from 6f to a mile so far and hopes pinned on going handicapping for the first time.

Another in the field who has fallen down the handicap and could be expected to perform better than he has given the mark he now operates off compared to his past ratings. Still has only ever won a maiden though and was rated as high as 80 when first going handicapping. Shaped well enough in two runs since the blinkers went on and best excused his last run (trip too far; raced alone) and no surprise if he ran well here although wouldn't want any rain.

One of three that the trainer runs in this race and despite a career record of 0/11 she has less convictions that most here. 0-60 6f handicaps are probably the best place for her and she might be able to land a weak one of these stepping back in trip.

Bit of a carbon copy in profile of Harbour Patrol with just a maiden win to his name when he was with a bigger yard (Roger Varian) an initial handicap mark of 75 and then a tumble down the weights as he's failed to win again. May well still have some ability but hard to find it and certainly found a mile at Yarmouth too far last time and now tries off a basement mark over 6f.

Previously with Richard Fahey but only won in sellers and claimers for him and is yet to win a handicap (0/19). Recent runs have been pretty dire and could not be backed with any confidence here.

Cheekpieces go on for the first time but there is little form to go with him especially in handicaps and it would be a major surprise to see him break his maiden here.

Forecasts

My Girl Maisie (5/2), Harbour Patrol (4/1), Racquet (9/2), Ss Vega (9/2), Lackaday (5/1), Total Power (10/1), Bunce (12/1), Goninodaethat (12/1), Hit The Lights (14/1), Bahamian Sunshine (22/1), Ershaad (28/1), Brendan (33/1), Warleggan (100/1)

Verdict

Very few with what you would call progressive in this with My Girl Maisie the obvious exception and she could well bounce back to winning form here although she is a relatively short price in a competitive contest. Course specialist Goninodaethat (won a division of this in 2015) and other course regulars like Bunce and SS Vega are respected and the dangerously well handicapped Hit The Lights and Harbour Patrol are two to watch in the market. Ruth Carr won both divisions of this last year and RACQUET another that has tumbled down the weights could continue her good run in this race of a career low mark.
