Cheek-pieces worked the oracle at Leicester last week; made all to score from Arithmetic over 1m2f (good). Had previously appeared regressive over hurdles and on the Flat, but claims if in the same mood with the same rider booked.

Promises to be competitive from this sort of mark, but needs to have come on a bundle for last week's Newcastle reappearance in order to play a hand. Has done the vast majority of his recent racing on the AW.

Bolted up over 1m2f from a 9lb lower mark at Newcastle in early June (runner up won since) but unable to replicate that effort in two races during the Plate Festival last weekend. Ground an unknown as he switches back to turf, but ran well over this trip when runner up to Amy Blair at Hamilton prior to that striking Newcastle success.

Seems well suited by this track (career record; 2,1,3), and he's 3lb below his C&D winning mark from September 2016. Not beaten too far when third to Lucent Dream over C&D last month, and this riders 5lb claim is an added bonus.

Won twice in succession at around this time last year (1m2f soft at Nottingham and Chepstow), so ticks the right boxes in a number of categories. Dropping in the weights, but hasn't shown much in three spins this year and needs to spark a revival.

Consistent, albeit a relatively exposed mare on the AW at Newcastle throughout the winter months, and generally most effective between 7f and 1m. Up in the weights and switches back to turf for the first time since June 2016, so interesting to see how she fares.

Both turf wins have come on soft ground so seems to have a preference for these conditions, and has fallen a few pounds in the weights since joining this trainer. Not a great deal to find with Eez Eh on their clash here last month, so not totally ruled out.

Raised just 2lb for a ¾L success over 1m here last month (beat Mustaqbal). That was just this former French racers third start for this trainer, and there could be more to come over this trip. Respected.

Seemingly readied for his most recent C&D success last month (beat Colour Contrast), and will bid to maintain his unbeaten record at this track from just a 2lb higher mark. Likes to get his toe in, and whilst not over-raced throughout his career looks a thoroughly reliable sort. Should go close.

Forecasts

Im Dapper Too (3/1), Geordie George (7/2), Invictus (5/1), Eez Eh (7/1), Indian Chief (15/2), Archipeligo (17/2), Omotesando (9/1), Table Manners (11/1), Polar Forest (18/1)

Verdict

Recent course winners Geordie George and Im Dapper Too promise to be competitive having been given relatively fair 2lb rises by the handicapper, whilst Invictus could play a hand if the cheek-pieces continue to have a sharpening effect. However, EEZ EH appears well suited by this particular track and his handicap mark of 67 makes some appeal (especially with Rowan Scott sneaking another 5lb off his back), and this four-year-old gelding by Jeremy is taken to record a second career success.
  1. Eez Eh
  2. Im Dapper Too
  3. Geordie George
