Looked to run above himself last time although finishing as close as he did will have pushed his handicap mark higher. Headgear (blinkers) is retained here but he doesn't look the most straightforward proposition making his handicap debut.

Didn't live up to her maiden form when stepped up to a mile on her handicap debut at Thirsk last year on her last run for Ed Dunlop. Now starts out for a new yard in a handicap for the second time and may well appreciate this sounder surface.

Has certainly not progressed from his second on debut at Newcastle over 6f and disappointed on his handicap debut back at the same track last time. Dropped 4lb for that effort but remains at this trip with his best form of 6f and best watched here.

Not really shaped like a winner waiting to happen in three maiden outings for Paul Cole and looks a rather hard ride who races freely. Now with a new yard having been sold for £3,200 recently he makes his handicap debut here.

Rather patchy record as a two-year-old but back in handicap last time he appeared to show some improved form. Didn't really get a clear passage and off a 1lb lower mark he's of interest here if he can follow up that run.

Failed to build on two solid first runs over 6f on her third run and was well held on her handicap debut. She took a step back in the right direction last time out though with the 7f looking to suit.

A Musselburgh winner (made all) on his sixth start in a handicap and followed that up with a good run at Leicester (had the run of the race). Off just a couple of days on her last start and ran poorly with the race looking as though it came too soon.

Form of her three maiden wins is very modest although she did travel well last time when fourth at Thirsk over a mile. Looks as though she'll be better suited by this discipline though as she goes handicapping for the first time.

Makes her handicap debut here having looked nothing special in three maiden runs the last of which came here over slightly shorter. Visor goes on for the first time but would need to provide big improvement to take a hand here.

Forecasts

Pepys (5/2), Clear As A Bell (3/1), Lord Kitten (5/1), Magic Journey (11/2), Pantera Negra (6/1), Hitchcock (6/1), Zilza (7/1), Harvest Moon (8/1), Leopard (25/1), Powercell (25/1), Nightdress (40/1)

Verdict

Nothing outstanding to recommend many of these and creditable form is a little thin on the ground in a race that makes little betting appeal. Both Pantera Negra and Clear As A Bell would have claims on their best form while Pepys is of some interest if his last run can be taken at face value. Zilza appears to have found her level and should make her mark in this grade but overall HARVEST MOON is the most interesting. She looks to have found something to build on now and this 7f trip looks an ideal one for her to get off the mark for her powerful yard.
  1. Harvest Moon
  2. Pepys
  3. Zilza
