Runner up here two starts back, pulling clear with the winner and quick reappearance here after thrashing a field at Stratford earlier in the week, jumping soundly. Repeat of that under a penalty makes him hard to beat, with likely conditions fine.

In good form over hurdles earlier in the spring, winning easily at Fontwell and then getting picked off late (under a big weight) at Chepstow subsequently. Appears to have gone off the boil if recent efforts are to be believed, however, and needs to bounce back on chase debut tonight.

Still a maiden after 12 starts but has twice gone very close to rectifying that this spring, with narrow defeats at Kempton and Bangor. Latest effort a little below par, and meets some fast-improving horses here. Others preferred.

Forecasts

Braqueur D'Or (1/4), Lovely Job (13/8), Theo (7/2), Mahlers Star (4/1), Bletchley Castle (10/1), Arthur Burrell (20/1)

Verdict

Lovely Job came back from an absence to score with some style at Uttoxeter and looks to have a good future over fences, but BRAQUEUR D'OR did the job in such style on Tuesday night at Stratford that, as long as the quick turnaround doesn't affect him, he looks the one to beat. His jumping was spot on and he could be called the winner some way from home. He can take this en route to better things. Theo looks unlikely to take his chance, so Mahlers Star may be the best of the rest.
