Previous Flat run on turf suggest this will be tough going and not much in a pair of recent spins over hurdles to change that view, others look more likely.
Impressive start at the Curragh over this trip last month, going down a head before being awarded the race in the steward's room. That sets the standard here and should go close.
Maiden winner at Cork in May (1m2f, good) and since run well in Curragh handicap over this trip on yielding ground just seven days ago. Likely to give another bold account in this.
Haven't seen the best of him in nigh on three years, though did run credible race over 2m at the Curragh last month from this mark. Bit more needed still going down in distance.
Nine-years-old and made it to the track just seven times, nothing in the formbook suggesting a first win is on the horizon.
Ran well over 1m5f at the Curragh last month, hitting the frame off a 2lb lower mark. Without a win on the Flat since 2015 and work to do even on best form seemingly.
Remains a maiden after 17 starts, finished remote second in four-runner race last time at Listowel behind long odds-on jolly. Unlikely to be filling similar placing this evening.
Two previous Flat runs have been in 1m7f maidens at Leopardstown, beaten 16L in latest of those last month. Will have to improve on that to stand a chance. Five-time winner in jumps sphere.
Beaten 22L in a Down Royal bumper on debut in May, has a good bit of improvement to find if harbouring designs on a leading role now.
Tailed off at the Curragh last month (1m2f, soft to heavy) on first run for 585 days. Hard to tell how much ability is retained on that evidence, but best watched for now.
Just 1/27 in her career, now ten-years-old and returning from eight-month layoff third Flat run of her life with plenty on her plate.
Makes her debut for what is already her fourth different trainer, and has been somewhat unlucky not to win at least a maiden so far. First-time hood tried and has work to do.
Forecasts
Alton Bay (9/4), Derulo (3/1), Mr Everest (3/1), Sandstorming (9/2), Mr Fiftyone (10/1), Jack Blue (25/1), Do Na Paisti (33/1), Wat Tyler (50/1), High Honcho (50/1), Xinbama (66/1), Bye Awhile (66/1), Ali Bin Nayef (66/1)
MR EVEREST was perhaps fortunate to make a winning start at the Curragh last month given he was headed close home before gaining the race in the steward's room. He was getting on top when the interference occurred and, with a clear run, might have won impressively. Regardless, that effort puts him bang in the mix for this and he can gain a more conventional success. Cork maiden winner Sandstorming also made a decent start to his handicapping career at the Curragh recently and can keep the selection honest. Derulo and Alton Bay, while having their issues, are the best of the rest.
- Mr Everest
- Sandstorming
- Derulo
