Back-to-back wins on the turf at Ayr and AW at Dundalk over this trip in May, found things a bit tougher in two runs since off this new mark but not ruled out of things dropping back from 7f.

Much-improved showing at Down Royal (7f, good) last time out sporting first-time cheekpieces, going down a neck in second place. Headgear is retained and decent chance to build on that showing off 3lb higher mark.

All six career wins have come on the AW surfaces, doesn't look the same horse on turf and has placed just once in 14 starts. Familiar tale in 6½f Limerick claimer on grass last time out.

Shaped better over mile at Gowran Park ten days ago on good ground but still has some improving to do and needs to demonstrate this reduced trip is not going be too sharp.

Tends to save his best work for Limerick, hitting the frame again at that venue 18 days ago. Has a bit to find on form regardless.

Filly broke her maiden in good style last month in C&D handicap event, though she has since flopped in attempting to defy a 10lb ratings rise over a furlong longer at Down Royal.

Finished 3½L in arrears of Guiding Star over C&D last month, weighted to turn that form around but still left needing a bit more seemingly.

Won an apprentice contest off a mark of 56 at Cork in May over this trip but has since flopped in two runs at Navan (5f, good) and Naas (6f, yielding). Others appeal more now.

Relatively lightly raced 4yo that has done most of his racing on the AW surfaces at Dundalk and Wolverhampton. Stone last on his recent return to turf makes for uninspiring reading and hard to fancy on the back of that.

Ten-race maiden has not shown the form required to merit consideration in this field. First start for new yard but has it all to prove.

Hasn't won since 2012 but returned from 581-day layoff with pleasing run at Naas last week over 7f, beaten around 5L. Hopes of building on that if not caught out by the bounce factor.

Six-race maiden was well beaten off over C&D last month from a mark of 59 and has again been soundly thwarted over the same trip at Naas. Hard to fancy with cheekpieces added for the first time.

Four-race maiden on the AW, makes first start in a handicap / on turf sporting first-time cheekpieces and tongue tie. Tough ask.

Has won off a mark of 65 in the past so would clearly have claims if on his game but recent signs have not been all that positive. Hit the frame in 6½f Limerick claimer last week, more needed.

A 12-race maiden now, he hasn't shown enough in three starts for current handler to warrant suggestion his breakthrough is imminent. Visor on first time here but isn't getting any favours being 8lb out at the weights.

Posted career-best effort over 5f at Navan in April when beaten under 2L in fourth of 19. Unable to match that the following month when tackling 6f at Cork. The latter was a more typical effort and so easy to look elsewhere in this contest.

Best effort (from four) came over C&D last month when 4½L down in third of 17 on handicap debut. Given a chance to build on that now off a 2lb lower mark.

Verdict

The top-weight Duncan Of Scotland is not to be discounted quickly as he is still running well enough having scored a quick double in May and should be suited back down to 6f here. Bien Chase posted a nicely improved effort last time at Down Royal and commands respected from just a 3lb higher perch in the ratings while Count Of Carabass recently ran well at Limerick but does tend to reserve his best efforts for the that track. LAVINUELA improved last time for the switch to handicaps and the filly should have decent claims of building on that C&D performance here. She may be the answer in what is a tough handicap.
  1. Lavinuela
  2. Bien Chase
  3. Duncan Of Scotland
