Won a 2m4½f Newcastle hurdle (good) in April and put up a promising debut on the Flat over this sort of trip at Ayr (good) last month. Handles cut in the ground and clearly in good heart, so should not be far away.
It isn't often that Richard Fahey can't find a race to win for one of his in 16 starts, but that was the case with this filly, who was claimed out of his yard after going close in a recent Redcar claimer (7f. good to firm). Has only raced on fast ground on turf and looks very much up against it on stable debut.
Green on debut at Redcar last month (1m2f, good), but beaten only 5½L in the end, so that was an encouraging effort for a 33-1 shot. Drops slightly in trip here and with some improvement for that run, he may be able to make an impact.
Well beaten on his sole outing as a juvenile, but improved on that when making his seasonal return at Ayr (1m1f, good) last month. Should be capable of further progress here, though likely to make more of an impact when he has a handicap mark.
Has made the frame in four of his six starts, including when going close in a maiden over C&D (soft) last time out. He is the benchmark runner on that evidence and a repeat effort might be good enough this time.
Made the frame in all his first three starts from 1m-1m3½f, though was a beaten odds-on favourite over the longer trip April. Tailed off last and beaten 28L from a mark of 73 on his handicap debut at Sandown last time, so connections return to this sphere to try to win a maiden and fit tongue strap. Not ruled out if handling these conditions.
Particularly green and pushed along for much of his Carlisle debut (1m1f, soft) last month, but got the hang of things to finish well for second, beaten 2½L. Could come on a fair bit for that and looks likely to be a leading player today.
Has gone backwards in terms of achievements on the track in his three runs so far, including when beaten over 6L over C&D (soft) last time. Yet to receive a handicap mark, which should happen after this run, and should be of more interest after that.
Beaten 17L when eighth of 10 (1m3½f, soft) at Haydock on debut last month, when green and never on terms. Should benefit from that and probably also this shorter trip, though unlikely that she will be finding the necessary improvement to win today.
Beaten over 6L when last of four on debut at Beverley (7½f, good to firm) last month. Step up in trip and that first experience should both help her find some improvement, though she has to prove she handles the forecast slower ground.

Forecasts
Torcello (5/6), Somnambulist (7/2), Starplex (7/1), Unite The Clans (15/2), Waiting A Lot (16/1), Testbourne (25/1), True Ballew (25/1), Broadway Dreams (33/1), Chinese Spirit (40/1), Miss Goldsmith (50/1), Shine Baby Shine (100/1)
Not a strong maiden and it could be a good chance for Somnambulist to break his duck. However, he has had several chance and is clearly vulnerable to an improver and that could be TORCELLO, who shook off being plenty green enough to finish runner-up on debut and can go one better today. Starplex and Testbourne are others who catch the eye, while Broadway Dreams could get involved at bigger odds.
- Torcello
- Testbourne
- Somnambulist
