Improved for his handicap debut when runner-up at Carlisle earlier in the month. 4lb rise for that effort looks a little harsh but plenty more to come and step up in trip could unlock more improvement.

Won three of his last four starts but hasn't looked as good on turf as he does on the AW. 6lb rise for his latest run not unfair but soft ground probably not in his favour and may not get much of a pace to aim at here.

Improved for the switch to handicaps and step up in trip at Doncaster last time and subsequent winners have come out of that contest so a 6lb rise could well underestimate him. Trainer has really hit form in recent weeks and every chance this gelding will go on progressing; leading player.

Fair effort in a maiden on his return to action at Doncaster earlier in the year and ran to a similar level at Haydock last time. Step up in trip could help and likely to do better now handicapping.

Minor promise in three maidens but well beaten at Goodwood last time on handicap debut and has to step up markedly on that effort if he is to figure here. Jockey booking an obvious bonus and while yard have been a little quiet in recent weeks, they had a winner here on Thursday. Could do better.

Landed a class six race on handicap debut at Lingfield and ran well here last time out, belying his odds of 25/1. Step up in trip could help and entitled to go well off a 1lb higher mark.

Forecasts

Solar Cross (11/8), Joshua Reynolds (9/2), Arab Moon (11/2), Maori Bob (7/1), Immortalised (8/1), City Limits (9/1)

Verdict

Roger Charlton has been in excellent form in recent weeks and had a winner here on Thursday; SOLAR CROSS could be capable of getting on the scoresheet here. A 6lb rise for his most recent win looks fair and with more improvement to come, he could be the one to beat. Immortalised went close last time and he should improve for the step up in trip while Joshua Reynolds is likely to do better now handicapping.
  1. Solar Cross
  2. Immortalised
  3. Joshua Reynolds
