Don't have to go back far to see a win on his record from 7lb higher over hurdles, so although his chase form so far is offputting, he clearly has the ability to make an impact now dropped in grade and a much better effort would not surprise.

Clearly not easy to keep sound but has gone well over C&D last year from 9lb higher. Out of sorts on all four starts this spring for current trainer and another dropped in grade here and with first-time visor now replacing cheek pieces. Ought to be able to get very competitive and a market check is strongly advised.

Arrives in cracking form after running up a hat-trick in a hunter chase and two hurdles over 2m7½f. Handles soft ground, though all wins on a sound/fast surface. Up another 3lb here and couldn't be ruled out, but still has a bit more to prove today.

Put some very poor form behind him when winning by 9L (3m, good) at Perth last month, though not quite as good at Hexham last time. Remains on the same mark, 11lb higher than the Perth success, this afternoon and could still have a say in a weak contest.

Acts with cut, though arguable that his best form has been on a sound surface. 6lb lower today than when recording his last win (3m, good) at Market Rasen last year, since which he has been badly out of form and very hard to fancy today.

Goes into this on the same mark as when making the frame (3m, good) at Hexham last time. Stays well and acts with cut, but hard to see him having anything better than each-way claims.

Back at the venue of his sole rules success, which was in this race last year on good ground when trained by John Wade. 5lb higher today and beaten favourite at Hexham last time on first start for this yard. Won a point-to-point on good to soft, though best form has been on good or faster ground, Not ruled out of a repeat for a yard among the winners.

Forecasts

Colorado Kid (2/1), Camillas Wish (10/3), Tommy O'dwyer (7/2), See Double You (9/2), Clues And Arrows (11/2), Don Franco (6/1), Thyne For Gold (12/1), Trillerin Minella (66/1)

Verdict

Thyne For Gold could do better now dropped in grade, while last year's winner Colorado Kid has a tougher assignment this time from a 5lb higher mark, but is not ruled out. Tommy O'Dwyer has frame claims again and Don Franco should be thereabouts. However, the suggestion is to take a chance on CLUES AND ARROWS. Admittedly, Rebecca Menzies' gelding carries a few risks, but this drop in grade looks likely to yield a much more positive result.
