It's only just over a year ago he was racing two grades higher than this, but it's all gone wrong for him since and he looked most reluctant on his latest outing. Even with another drop in grade today, it all just looks too risky, and others are preferred.
Doesn't look an obvious one for a step up to 3m based on efforts over shorter (finished weakly last time) and although she may have needed her recent efforts after a break, they have both been below par. Too early to write off but others are preferred today.
Some promise to be taken from her effort at Fontwell in April but another poor effort last time out at Warwick only highlighted her inconsistency. Change of headgear here, and there's probably a race in her off this mark. Risky, but has a chance.
Looks regressive already and not much encouragement to be taken from recent efforts over fences. Upped in trip, yard badly out of form, and all in all, looks an unlikely winner.
Big prices on all four starts and did no better for the move into handicaps on latest start, finishing well beaten. Connections go for the headgear today but it needs to have a big effect if he's to take a hand in the finish here.
Does at least know how to win and scored twice at Towcester last year, showing that he handles fast ground and stays this trip well. Disappointed on comeback run at Stratford (was made favourite) but possibly needed that, and may do better here.
Did win a couple of fast-ground point-to-points back in 2016 (lucky winner on one occasion) and has shown that he at least stays this trip, but new yard in no sort of form and likely to need this after an absence anyway.
Hasn't scored since November 2015 although has gone close on a couple of occasions, and hasn't shaped badly on either of his last couple of outings. However, has no form of note over this trip and others are preferred for win purposes.
Twice a C&D winner and needs quick ground, so should have his conditions, but recent efforts leave plenty to be desired. Yard had a recent winner however, so not totally discounted even from out of the handicap.
Forecasts
Polarbrook (5/2), Fled Or Pled (5/1), Withoutdefavourite (11/2), Tidestream (7/1), En Joule (15/2), French Seventyfive (17/2), Cottonwool Baby (10/1), Don Sebastian (16/1), Howaboutnever (25/1)
Nothing here comes with a solid profile - those with form over the trip and on quick ground turned in poor efforts last time out - and caution is advised. A chance is taken on COTTONWOOL BABY, who threw in a poor one last time out but has hinted at ability a couple of times, and this looks her easiest task to date. Fled Or Pled likes these conditions and has a chance if bouncing back to his best form. The race for third is wide open, with French Seventyfive just preferred.
