Likeable winning hurdler and chaser, who built upon his reappearance third at this track in April to score by 2L from Still Believing over hurdles (3m) at Ffos Las in late May. Probably not at the same level of form back at that track on Thursday (third), and switches back to fences seeking to follow up an October 2016 Ludlow success.
Looked an exciting prospect when off the mark at the second attempt over fences in a Carlisle novices chase in October 2015 (2m good), but has lost his way badly and unable to show improvement for the regular switch between fences and hurdles. Slowly slipping to a workable mark, and a case of 'when', not 'if' he recaptures his form.
Winner on chase debut here beating a small field over 2m4f (jumped well) but looking as though further would suit. However, has not really gone forward since and was well beaten at Kelso last month. A return to this track could rejuvenate (career form figures here read; 1,2,1).
Narrowly repelled by Boric in the Highland National (3m6f) at Perth in late April, so the handicapper continues to give this eight-year-old little respite. Not hindered by this trip on decent ground, but a tough ask off his current mark of 112.
On a much lower mark over fences than over hurdles, and shaped as though a step up in trip could benefit on all three outings since his return in early April. Not won since 2014, but handles a variety of racing surfaces.
A six time career winner over the larger obstacles (maiden over hurdles) and slipping to a dangerous mark judged upon his ¾L second to Carrigdhoun at Carlisle in October (8lb lower). However, needs to do better than his most recent outing to take a hand.
Enjoyed a purple patch when regularly partnered by Wilson Renwick in 2014/15, but slow to come back down the weights despite a string of moderate runs. However, has dropped 12lb since February, and he's won three times at this track previously, including over C&D.
Forecasts
Heist (11/4), Presenting Junior (10/3), Garrahalish (4/1), Mister Don (11/2), Presented (8/1), Tickenwolf (9/1), The Grey Taylor (14/1)
A tight little contest, which features a number of horses that have done their connections proud, but at present admittedly have a few question marks hanging over them. Both Heist and Mister Don are probably in the best form, but might well be a fraction high in the weights. In contrast, the likes of The Grey Taylor, Presented and PRESENTING JUNIOR should be more competitive from reduced marks. The selection is a useful sort on his day (both over C&D and at Ayr), so with some real slack finally being cut in his direction by the handicapper, he's a speculative selection in a difficult race.
- Presenting Junior
- Mister Don
- Tickenwolf
