Ran well for a long way on debut at Kempton in November, when being tapped for toe later on. This extra 2f will help on that front and he should handle forecast conditions, so a significant improvement could be on the cards.

Well beaten in two 1m2f maidens so far and would need a major improvement to be winning this, so likely that he will do better after this run when handicapping becomes a more realistic option.

Improved for his Newbury debut (1m, good to firm) when a ½L third at Chelmsford in May. The fourth that day won a Wetherby maiden next time and the sixth was only just touched off in a Yarmouth maiden handicap, so the right signs are there for another step forward in this and he could go very well.

Looked very moderate on her Chepstow debut and was still green at Salisbury last time, when doing significantly better. Even so, that was way off the form likely to be needed to win this and a watching brief looks sound advice again this time.

Forecasts

Najashee (8/11), Thornton (6/4), Big Tour (7/4), Queen Moon (9/1), Lord Kitten (20/1), Princess Ophelia (33/1)

Verdict

Far from a strong maiden for the track and NAJASHEE is the suggestion to break his duck, given that the form of his Chelmsford run last time out has worked out quite well. Thornton has a bit to find on strict interpretations of their form with Star Gypsy, but you couldn't be dogmatic and say that he can't bridge that gap. Big Tour looks likely to be the best of the rest today and he is another for whom a win would not surprise.

  2. Thornton
  3. Big Tour
