Opened account over timber at Naas in February (2m, soft to heavy) in a maiden and has since run well enough in three starts. Latest of those brought 17L runner-up finish to main market rival in five-runner Clonmel contest but will have strong claims in this if on his best form.

Left previous form behind with 11L success in 2m maiden hurdle at Tipperary last month on good ground. That was just a third start over flights and puts him near the top of the shortlist for this.

Scored game success at this track last time over 2m4½f and certainly appears to enjoy the track. Drop back in distance does perhaps raise some concerns.

Made a winning debut in 2m maiden hurdle at Cork last month on good to yielding ground, both the second and third horses have since come out and won so there's every chance the filly could have more to offer.

Well beaten in five starts over timber so far, big surprise if she proves up to having a major say in this despite the small field.

Forecasts

Morgan (6/4), Special Diamond (2/1), Rebelion Boy (3/1), Regal D'Argent (9/1), Satnav Sally (66/1)

Verdict

Morgan is a capable performer for the Elliott team but he put firmly in his place at Clonmel last time out and might again find at least one of these is too good. Rebelion Boy upped his game quite considerably with a wide-margin win at Tipperary last month and is greatly respected but the opener might go to SPECIAL DIAMOND. The Harrington-trained filly made a winning start at Cork last month and both the second and third have come out and won since. She surely has more to offer in the hopes of maintaining that winning start. Regal D'argent has won at this track before but the drop in distance is a worry.
  1. Special Diamond
  2. Rebelion Boy
  3. Morgan
