Verdict

If able to come on for a Newcastle maiden victory in October, CRUSHED looks to be the one to beat here. William Haggas' charge had only two runs last year but showed plenty of improvement on his second start and is by far the least exposed option here. Second Page has more potential in a race of this nature being ridden by a respected apprentice, while Doctor Cross has also showed talent in maidens and is interesting here.
