Maiden winner over 7f on AW at Dundalk in final 2yo start, outclassed in Chester Vase on reappearance and since beaten just under 7L in 1m5f Navan handicap (good) a fortnight ago. Tough ask now giving away weight all round.
Unable to get off the mark in four maidens but shaped with some degree of promise in Listed Yeats Stakes over 1m5f last time and could go well in first-time blinkers here.
New Approach filly who might well have won on her second start over C&D in late April but for a barging match inside the final furlong, she did go one better (by a short head) when dropped in trip at Gowran last month to shed the maiden tag though since well beaten in 1m4f handicap at Curragh on yielding to soft ground off 84.
Cost just €23,000 but Henrythenavigator gelding still has a likeable pedigree, unable to provide much encouragement in 1m maidens at Navan and Cork to date, upped significantly in distance for handicap bow.
Cost 500,000 gns and is a half-brother to useful performers over a variety of trips, made decent impression in first two starts - including this C&D - and perhaps found 1m5f too far latest at Navan. Has to be given claims in this line-up on handicap bow.
Off the mark second time of asking in a Hamilton maiden over extended mile last month on good to firm. Upped in trip here but could well have further improvement to come now handicapping.
Forecasts
Steel Prince (2/1), World War (9/4), Modern Approach (3/1), Druids Cross (6/1), What Wonders Weave (8/1), Moral Fibre (33/1)
STEEL PRINCE may have found his stamina stretched beyond the optimum last time out at Navan. He'd previously shaped with promise in two starts, including over this C&D and is taken to deliver on that potential now handicapping for the first time. In truth, it is hard to rule out any of this sextet with confidence. World War gets blinkers added having run well over a longer trip in Listed class latest while What Wonders Weave scored over shorter at Hamilton in a maiden and could have more to offer in this sphere. Druids Cross must ship weight to all five rivals while Modern Approach must bounce back from a poor show last time but does represent an in-form Bolger team.
