Horse A-Z
3L winner of a 3m Dromahane maiden Point-to-Point in April, and sold the following month for £24,000. Fair French pedigree on dam's side, and makes stable/hurdles debut wearing a tongue tie.
Placed in a 3m soft ground Point-to-Point in February 2016. Absent since and makes rules and stable debut on a much sounder surface. Brother to a couple of winners including Deadly Move, but not an obvious candidate for success today.

Former rules campaigner for Micky Hammond, and a five time winner over fences, but poor in Point-to-Points (1/19). Owned by local MP for Hexham Guy Opperman.

Six race maiden, but has filled the frame on his last four starts (all over hurdles) for this trainer since switched from Rebecca Curtis. Solid effort in a Cartmel handicap last month (3m1f soft) when going down narrowly to Morning Royalty, and the form horse on that showing alone.

Pulled up in three of his four starts over hurdles and hasn't seen any action since October 2016. Impossible to consider even at this lowly level.

Point-to-Point winner at the third time of asking in April 2017 (3m good at Oldcastle), and off the mark the following month on stable debut at this track (2m4f novices hurdle). Difficult to quantify that form with the quirky Hawkhurst (third), but could do no more than win and a step up in trip should suit.

Very hard to enthuse about the chance of this 15-race maiden, who has been tried at a variety of trips and in a variety of conditions and not yet threatened to take a hand. Others readily preferred.

Forecasts

Petiville (4/7), Talkofgold (5/2), Ahead of The Curve (10/1), Auldthunder (12/1), Musketeer (16/1), Beyondtheflame (66/1), The Conn (125/1), All My Friends Say (125/1)

Verdict

Talkofgold was off the mark on her rules debut in a taking manner at this track last month, and whilst she should be suited by stepping up in trip, there is the suspicion that form doesn't amount to much. However, this is a weak race, and she looks best placed to take advantage if the selection PETIVILLE is at all troubled by drying ground. He deserves to get his head in front, and went down in a slug-out at Cartmel (handicap) last month and this contest looks a far less challenging assignment.
  1. Petiville
  2. Talkofgold
  3. Ahead of The Curve
