Won a Salisbury maiden on debut before quickly proving himself not up to pattern level with two lackluster displays at a high level. Has run three solid race in handicap company since and should be capable of winning a nature of this race soon.
Returned to handicap company last time after a brief unsuccessful spell in Group company recently. Failed to land a blow and will need to put that performance behind him now down in 3lb.
Took a step forward from his debut to win at Pontefract last time, when clearly enjoying the step up in trip. Stays at an intermediate trip for his handicap debut and is definitely the least exposed option in the field, for a trainer who often gets plenty of improvement out of his horses as time goes on.
Disappointed on handicap debut last time when having no obvious excuses. Difficult to fancy off the same weight, unless there was some unapparent reason for that poor run.
Still well above his most recent handicap mark having struggle with a higher weight on his last couple of starts. Could do better back in this company but still unattractive for win purposes.
Proved he was on a lenient opening mark when winning cosily on handicap debut at this course last time. Up in trip a furlong now but does have an 8lb rise in the weights to contend with.
Forecasts
Eynhallow (5/4), Mudaarab (3/1), Anythingtoday (6/1), Jackhammer (8/1), Zymyran (9/1), Bear Valley (10/1)
If able to show further improvement on his third start (and given his connections he should be able to), this can go to MUDAARAB. Sir Michael Stoute's charge impressed when taking a Pontefract maiden last month having run only moderately on debut, and could prove himself to be on a lenient mark on his handicap debut, especially up against a relatively exposed looking opposition. Jackhammer has been running some solid races recently without getting his head in front and could be next best, ahead of last time out winner Eynhallow.
- Mudaarab
- Jackhammer
- Eynhallow
