Did well at Worcester recently considering he was in the front line throughout, and the other leaders all finished well beaten. so that effort can be marked up. Yard among the winners recently and with ideal conditions likely again, looks to hold a solid chance.

Much improved since joining this yard, and won his third chase on the bounce at Hexham recently, still showing the handicapper hadn't got him yet. Another 12lb here makes life harder but couldn't say with any certainty he's finished improving yet.

Early mistakes didn't help his cause on chasing debut at Kelso last month but he was sticking to the task at the finish, and the step up in trip here will help. Needs to cut the errors out but well enough handicapped to get involved if he does.

Verdict

In a tricky little contest, a chance is taken on PERSEID, who made mistakes early on his chasing debut at Kelso but was getting the hang of things late on, and can do better over a longer trip here. He gets a useful chunk of weight from Trafalgar Rock , who is the type to make a decent chaser, and Lettheriverrundry, who put in a solid effort at Worcester (not unbacked at big prices) and a reproduction of that takes him close. No Such Number has been mopping up some Northern chases but will find this harder.
