Has been improving of late and scored for the first time at Ripon (1m2f, good to soft) last week. That was his first try over this far and there looked to be more to come, so he can give a very good account under his 6lb penalty.
Won a Carlisle novices' event (6f, good) a year ago but has struggled to make any impact in handicaps over 1m and 7f so far this term. Dropped 2lb going into this and is related to several winners over this trip, so he may do better, but it still takes a leap of faith from recent form to see him winning this.
Produced her best effort yet at Chepstow last time when beaten just under 2L (1m, soft) from today's mark. Should stay this far and may improve further for this extra 2f, so has to be respected.
Beaten just a neck and a nose on his last two starts at Redcar (1m2f, good to firm) and Hamilton (1m1f, good) and now raised 7lb as a result. Will have to prove that he handles some juice in the ground here, but going the right way and unexposed.
Sent off as favourite on his handicap debut at Beverley in April (7½f, good), but well beaten there. However, he is a half-brother to a Listed-placed runner over this trip, so the step up looks worth a try and he is not written off on his first run since being gelded.
Has put up three similar efforts in maidens at 1m-1m½f and now goes handicapping stepped up in trip and with headgear on for the first time. Has a workable mark and plenty in her pedigree that suggests that she will begin to come into her own now, so a market check is strongly advised.
Made a nice debut here in October (1m, good), but form quickly tailed off in two further maidens before the end of the year. Upped in trip for this handicap debut that comes after a decent break and may be able to do better, though probably best watched unless market vibes strong.
Comfortably held in all three handicaps so far, including on his reappearance last time at Windsor (1m, good). Step up in trip can probably elicit some improvement, while a further 2lb drop won't harm his cause, but need to see more before we can recommend him.
1lb lower than when beaten just over 4L on his handicap debut at Redcar last month (1m2f, good to firm). Was a bit ponderous early on there, so with a better start he could finish closer and not one to write off given his connections. Cheek pieces may well help.
Slight disappointment when last seen making his handicap debut at Newcastle in November, sent off at 5-1, but finishing over 8L behind the winner. A 3lb drop will help, but has a bit to prove here, not least in these different conditions.
Up 2lb for going close at Beverley (1m2f, good) when a 16-1 chance last time out. Winner has run well again since, although not many other huge positives coming out of that race but no major reason why he can't give another good account.

Forecasts
Barwell (7/4), Tread Lightly (9/2), Shambra (7/1), Size Matters (8/1), Spirit Of Belle (8/1), Lucy's Law (8/1), Nigh Or Never (9/1), Melodine (14/1), Fleetfoot Jack (20/1), Ingleby Mackenzie (20/1), Breanski (33/1), Showdance Kid (33/1), Siyahamba (66/1)
Tread Lightly looks like an improving performer and despite a rise for not winning he could again go close here. Shambra should also be involved, while Nigh Or Never might be sharpened up by the cheek pieces and could well have a say. Melodine is following a path charted by so many successfully saddled by her trainer and it would not surprise if she proves good enough to win this, but BARWELL looked to have more in the locker at Ripon last week and he is taken to defy a 6lb rise and follow up.
- Barwell
- Tread Lightly
