C&D maiden winner last time out, putting previous misdemeanour firmly behind him. Makes handicap debut and looks to have strong claims.

Not beaten far over 7f here (good to firm) last month but remains a maiden on turf after nine attempts and it's now over a year since his last AW win. A threat if his stamina holds out on first attempt over 1m.

Maiden winner on AW at Kempton on reappearance in April over 1m, bitterly disappointing at Newmarket last month over 1m2f (soft) having gone off 13/8 favourite. Should be capable of better than that.

Picked up her second course success here last month. Tends to miss the break but can produce what is required at the business end. Has since been well beaten over C&D behind King Oswald though not out of things on a going day.

Career best when winning seven-runner handicap over this C&D (good to firm) 28 days ago. Goes up 3lb for narrow verdict there but every chance of being in the shake-up again.

Turned in a career best when winning over C&D in good style on penultimate run having looked as though he was capable of a performance like it on occasions before. Was held up in follow-up bid at Bath since and did well to close late on. Could be open to more progress at this level.

Forecasts

Chiefofchiefs (7/4), Selection (5/2), King Oswald (5/1), Suqoor (9/1), Ross Raith Rover (9/1), Anastazia (11/1)

Verdict

CHIEFOFCHIEFS may be up to making a winning start in handicaps after a tidy maiden win at Windsor last time. Assuming he behaves himself, he looks to have some potential in this sphere. Ross Raith Rover isn't easily bypassed having scored over C&D last time and rates a solid danger off a 3lb hike while King Oswald is also respected back over this track and trip on penultimate run and perhaps being give a bit much work to do late on since at Bath. Selection is surely going to be better than he showed at Newmarket last time.
