Point-to-point winner in October, 2015, but sole success from six subsequent starts came over 2m at Chepstow (good-to-firm) two starts ago in April. Tailed off at Towcester off a higher mark last month, he has questions to answer off 4lb lower.
Keen-going sort and still a maiden after 10 starts. The experiment over fences last time failed to work and it's back to timber with more hope than expectation.
Two wins in 19 starts over hurdles, and is particularly effective at this track where she was a good third of 15 last time. She has gone up 3lb for that, which seems a little harsh, but against that the drop in trip should suit. Each-way claims.
Lightly-raced sort who has a bumper and hurdle victory to his credit. He won well over C&D last time and a 4lb rise is perfectly fair. With so few miles on the clock, improvement can be expected and he is a leading player.
Had a simple task when winning the latest of his six hurdles starts at Exeter, but seems to be improving. Has been raised only 2lb for that and has to go on the short liist for his respected trainer/jockey combination.
Has been around the block a few times, but seems to retain his enthusiasm and it is only three starts ago that he was winning at Carlisle. Ran a decent race off this mark at Market Rasen last time and cannot be discounted.
Was in decent form when last seen in the autumn, winning at Newton Abbot and running with credit on other starts. Has to overcome an absence and a high-enough handicap mark, so best to look elsewhere.
Returned from a lengthy absence to finished 11th of 16 in a Newton Abbot handicap hurdle in May, but shaped much better on the Flat at Wolverhampton last time. He is 3lb lower than when last successful over hurdles, so he has to enter calculations if regaining his form over timber.
Lightly raced in bumpers and hurdles. Returns from a long absence and is likely to need the outing, although a check in the market is warranted.
Three-times hurdle winner earlier in his career, but has more letters than numbers next to his name these days and cannot be backed with any confidence.
No successes from 11 starts over hurdles and has to overcome a long absence in his quest to put that right. Connections reach for a tongue tie for the first time, and a watching brief is advised.
Has made spectacular progress since joining his current trainer, winning two chases and two hurdles. He has risen in the weights accordingly but, in his current vein of form, he remains a threat to all.
Lightlty-raced in bumpers and hurdlers, but has shown only limited promise and failed to beat a rival at Fontwell last time. A tongue tie is fitted for the first time and it will need to have a significant effect.
Veteran campaigner who has won six times over hurdles and ran a solid race last time to finish second of 15 at this track over 3f further. Has gone up 3lb for that display, but that could be negated by the drop in trip. Respected.
Placed only once in seven hurdles starts and has shown very little in four outings for his current trainer, including when pulled up at Uttoxeter last time. Nothing to suggest he can figure in this.
Forecasts
Sam Noir (11/4), Lake Chapala (7/2), Over The Air (13/2), Stealing Mix (13/2), Jigsaw Financial (9/1), Domtaline (14/1), Conteur d'Histoire (20/1), Pengo's Boy (20/1), Snow Rescue (20/1), Sir Dylan (33/1), Burrenbridge Hotel (33/1), Cool George (40/1), Dun Scaith (40/1), Holy Cross (66/1), Howaboutnever (66/1)
Some seasoned campaigners will be bidding to enhance their CVs in this, including Jigsaw Financial, Domtaline and Over The Air. Each can be fancied, along with the in-form Lake Chapala, who is chasing a five-timer, and recent C&D scorer Sam Noir. However, a chance is taken on SIR DYLAN, who shaped well on the Flat last time and is lower in the handicap than when last successful.
- Sir Dylan
- Sam Noir
- Lake Chapala
