Shown little in three starts but will gain valuable experience here. Sire was a sprinter and one to watch when dropped to shorter distances in handicaps.
375,000 gns son of New Approach out of a dam who won two Group races including the Park Hill. Steps up to a trip in line with his pedigree and owner's retained jockey gets the leg up for the first time.
16,000 gns yearling second foal by Cape Cross out of Famusa. His Dam was a Listed placed, 1m to 1m3f winner in Italy. Easy to back on debut when coltish in the preliminaries. Denied a clear run that day and not unduly punished when his chance had gone. Faces a stiffer task here.
Unraced gelded son of Archipenko. Purchased for 4,000 gns as a yearling in 2015 and probably best watched on debut.
Dubawi colt out of dual Group 2 winner Echoes In Eternity. Half-brother to useful 1m2f-2m performers Whispering Gallery, Eavesdropper and Sound Reflection. Reportedly lost his action when supported but only beating one home on Nottingham debut. Trainer 7-18 in past fortnight.
£3,000 purchase who looks up against it judged by his inauspicious debut when beaten 30L. Stable have been going well but it will take more than that for him to succeed in this company
Frankel colt who is related to five winners from 6f-1m2f. Like a lot of the sire's progeny he has been keen and there have to be fears this trip will be beyond him. Well supported on both starts so clearly has potential and trainer has had success with this family.
Has failed to get a clear run on both starts this term. Sets a form standard with a BHA rating of 77 and with the promise of more to come. Stable have a 20 percent strike rate here and have been going well lately.
200,000 gns son of Sea The Stars who has indicated some ability in two turf maidens to date but finds himself in what looks a hotter contest. Yard 13-29 with this age group on AW surfaces in 2017.
Looked very backward on his Wolverhampton debut where he got himself totally detached before running on past mediocre horses to finish third. This former classic entrant and half-brother to Biographer is sure to come on for the experience but may need yet more time.
€220,000 purchase has shown some ability without being a threat in either start. Yard in better form now and half-sister was a C&D winner. Trainer/jockey combination 9-26.
Full brother to very useful Gan Amhras who proved he had learned a lot from his unpromising debut to finish a fair fifth on his return. Worrying to see cheekpieces fitted so early in his career
Well beaten on both career starts and hard to see her figuring in even stronger company. Trainer just 1-52 here.
150,000 gns Nathaniel filly out of a dam who was a Polytrack winner over a mile. Sure to improve on Ascot debut where she looked green and was given a considerate ride. Stable's horses are improving for a run and that is borne out by their current run of excellent form (5-14 in past fortnight).
Forecasts
Forever Song (7/2), Petitioner (9/2), Master Archer (13/2), Qaviy Cash (8/1), Uptown Funk (8/1), Park Paddocks (8/1), Marine One (10/1), Cape Coast (10/1), Buldan (10/1), Stylish Dancer (14/1), Flooded (100/1), Act Swiftly (200/1), Astroshadow (200/1), Iley Boy (200/1)
This looks a hot maiden for this venue and several future winners are likely to come out of it. Most of the top yard's are represented and the market should be informative. Petitioner went into many notebooks following his introduction. This requires him to have improved considerably and his yard have gone off the boil lately with just one winner in the past two weeks. Buldan is bred to do better over this trip but he may be one to watch for handicaps later in the year, whilst Uptown Funk represents top connections but the fitting of cheekpieces is a concern. Master Archer sets a reasonable standard but the vote goes to FOREVER SONG, despite his obvious failure at Nottingham. That run is best ignored and he comes from a family that have plenty of AW winners amongst them. The yard are operating at an incredible strike rate at present and this could be another to add to the tally.
- Forever Song
- Master Archer
- Buldan
