Hasn't quite managed to win in novices' company but was not far away at Kempton (2m5f, good) in April and ran with credit over further last time. Now goes handicapping from a mark of 115 and no reason why he cannot remain competitive.
Sole hurdles win was at Wetherby (2m, soft) in novices' company back in 2014. Recent form has been ordinary, but he did go well from 7lb higher at Huntingdon in November. Would have claims if he could reproduce that, although may want a drop of rain to be seen to best effect.
Scored here in a bumper on debut (good) but closest he has come to a second success in four hurdles runs was in maiden company at Huntingdon in November. Pedigree suggests that this extra half mile will help him and the handicapper has cut him some slack for his first run in this sphere. Market check advised.
Yet to win a handicap hurdle in eight attempts from 2m-3m1f and looks exposed. Wasn't far away from 2lb lower at Newton Abbot in April, but hard to recommend on what he has shown in two runs since.
You have to go back to December 2013 for her last win, which came here over C&D from a mark of 117. A lengthy break has been followed by three chase runs, but now she is switched back to hurdles from a mark 4lb lower than that success. Market check is advised to gauge any confidence in a revival.
0-11, though has put in plenty of creditable efforts and would not be winning out of turn. Keeps being nudged up in the weights despite not winning, making it harder to recommend her each time. Trip looks her optimum, although she may be better with a bit of ease in the ground. Tongue strap now added.
Has won three of his 13 Flat starts, but a more recent convert to hurdles, with just four runs under his belt. Showed promise in the autumn in novices' company, but yet to gets to grips with handicapping. 4lb drop today won't do any harm and could get more competitive.
Went close over C&D last spring (soft) for Ben Case and was not seen again until reappearing on his first run for this trainer and scoring over 2m6f (good to soft) at Stratford last month. Front pair were 8L clear there, so a 6lb rise does not look insurmountable and slight drop in trip unlikely to be a problem.
Has won twice over on the Fibresand, though yet to record a hurdles success from three attempts. Makes his handicap debut today, but looks to have too much on his plate in this field from his allotted mark.
0-8 over hurdles so far, but was a 6L runner-up here in a novices' handicap contest in April (C&D, good) from 1lb higher. Well beaten over further last time, but back here and over this trip he may be able to make more of an impact.

Forecasts
Petrou (2/1), Calva D'honore (11/2), Mr Fenton (6/1), Marvellous Monty (7/1), Sebastian Beach (8/1), Samdibien (8/1), A Boy Named Suzi (10/1), Barkis (12/1), Surf And Turf (14/1), Paladin (33/1), Beyeh (33/1)
Marvellous Monty deserves to taste some glory, but the handicapper is not having much option in putting her up for a string of consistent efforts in defeat and the same may occur today. Samdibien is arguably unexposed and could do better now back here, while the market looks worth checking regarding the chances of both Calva D'honore and Beyeh. Even so, preference is for PETROU, who won on his first start for this trainer in a manner that suggested he could be make more significant improvements this summer.
- Petrou
- Marvellous Monty
- Samdibien
