Progressive and should strip fitter after finishing third on chasing debut at Killarney last month. More required but sound claims in an open contest.

Highly tried over hurdles but has obviously had training issues as he has been limited to just four starts in as many years. Pulled-up on chasing debut but may have needed the blow out. Market reaction will be informative.

Steps up considerably in trip but shaping with promise over fences and cannot be ruled out after a couple solid efforts. One for the shortlist.
5

6/1
Three respectable runs over fences to date but has a bit to prove now he steps up to this trip. Heavy ground also a concern.

Modest hurdler but did manage a win at Down Royal in March. Going the right way but others hold more scope at this stage. Trip also a concern.

Dual course winner over hurdles but chasing debut was only fair and has a bit to prove now he steps up in trip.

Open to more improvement after making a satisfactory start over fences at Wexford last month. Trip and ground not an issue so worth a check in the betting.

No more than a satisfactory effort on return to action for a new yard at Punchestown in April. Interesting he is being persevered with but prime candidate to 'bounce' on only his second outing since 2014 - this will also mark his debut over fences.

No more than fair form over hurdles but three previous starts over fences have hinted at ability. Step up in trip and absent since November are causes for concern though

Chasing debut for a top yard and the obvious plus of Ruby Walsh in the saddle. Already proved he is no stable-star but rated 137 at his best over timber, so has to be of interest now tried in this sector of racing. Up in trip tonight, so the market will have to guide as to expectations for his stamina holding out. But still hard to see beyond him in this company.

Soft ground not expected to be an issue but stamina under scrutiny after a poor display on his only try at 3m over hurdles. Only modest effort on chasing debut so also has to raise the level of him jumping here.
14
Horse silk
40/1
Posted a couple of modest efforts over fences so far and while open to improvement, has questions to answer as he steps up in trip.

Recorded some pleasing efforts over hurdles but chasing debut left a lot to be desired. Yard highly respected so feasible the mare will improve over fences but probably best watched until she shows more fluency at her obstacles.

Maiden over hurdles and plenty to prove now she switches to fences. Should cope with the ground and trip but others readily preferred.

Verdict

No prizes for originality but SURE REEF is a useful recruit to the chasing scene and will be a tough nut to crack if his stamina holds out. Fagan is another that brings a touch of class to the race and is surely better than he showed on his chasing debut. But he does have a bit to prove, so the useful Gwencily Berbas carries the mantle of the best alternative, while Milsean represents good value to claim a place in the frame.
  1. Sure Reef
  2. Gwencily Berbas
  3. Milsean
