Runner-up in maiden company over 1m at Musselburgh (good) last season and went well enough for a long way over C&D on his reappearance last month. Should come on for that run and a 2lb drop for his second attempt in handicap company and should get much closer this time.
Made the frame in all three maiden starts from 7½f-1m2f, though beaten 13L on handicap debut over C&D last time. Dropped 1lb going into this, but has a little bit to prove at present. Handles soft ground.
Best effort in three runs in 7f maidens came at Redcar last time (good to firm) when beaten just 1½L. Makes his handicap debut from a fair enough mark and although his sire was top class over 1m2f-1m4f, his relatives have been more about speed. Has to prove he gets this far, but if he does he could be dangerous.
Won back-to-back sellers both here and at Catterick last July on good/good to firm ground. One paced at the business end when trying to make all on being stepped up to this trip here last time, so still has stamina to prove over this far, although different tactics may yield greater dividends.
Well beaten in all three maidens at 7f-1m, but becomes more interesting now handicapping. Having said that, handicapper has not been particularly generous on initial inspection and although there is some stamina in his pedigree, he arrives here with work to do.
Went well on his handicap debut over 1m (good) at Thirsk last time. Up 2lb for that but it was a definite step in the right direction and it would be no surprise to see him do better over further here and his dam had some decent placed form with cut in the ground in France, so there is hope that he will handle conditions.
Came good at the eighth time of asking in a Beverley handicap last time (1m2f, good) and ran well enough on his only try on soft ground. Up 5lb for the win, but front pair were 5L clear there and every chance that he can bridge the gap.
Won two of his last three starts for Richard Hannon, the most recent being a Redcar seller last month, after which he joined current yard. Makes debut for them here, but a look at his CV suggests that there must be concern over the softer ground today.
Well beaten in all three starts in maiden company over 7f-1m and now makes handicap debut from a mark of 61 and stepped up in trip. Pedigree suggests that he may be able to handle the latter, but probably best watched this time.
Forecasts
Reinstorm (3/1), Barwell (9/2), Warm Love (11/2), Powerful Love (11/2), Metronomic (7/1), Racemaker (10/1), Cornerstone Lad (11/1), Rock Island Line (14/1), Oregon Point (28/1)
Oregon Point is interesting now stepped up to this trip and handicapping and a market check is advised, while Racemaker is not one to write off after his run here last time. Reinstorm looks to have decent claims given the nature of his win last time out, but preference is for BARWELL, who might do even better over this trip and whose pedigree suggests that he won't mind softer ground.
- Barwell
- Reinstorm
- Oregon Point
