Turned over an odds-on favourite at Musselburgh before finding Listed company beyond her three weeks ago. Will set out to make all and front-runners do well over this C&D. Stable continues in excellent form.

Cost €88,000 as a Kodiac half-sister to the useful Von Blucher. Missed the break and shaped like a winner in waiting when fourth behind a Hannon hotpot on debut when looking green and not knocked about. Cannot afford to get as far behind on this circuit, particularly with Faithful Promise looking set to force a generous pace. Highly regarded and stable were 7-13 with their juveniles here last year.

Sepoy filly ought for €9,000. Dam failed to win but was placed on fast ground. Sire's progeny tend to prefer faster conditions too and that was borne out by her debut effort.

Zoffany filly out of a moderate dam. Outpaced on debut before noted making late headway. It is hard to win here over 5f unless you can lie up with the speed and she has a lot to find on form to be competitive.
£19,000 yearling by Showcasing out of Pendulum, and a half-sister to sprint winners Medici Time, Every Second, My Son Max, Ticking Away and others. Never a factor on debut but appeared to be getting the hang of things late on. Yard are yet to fire and are 0-28 with this age group in 2017.

€21,000 yearling, but that price increased markedly to £100,000 as a two-year-old. Kodiac filly out of juvenile winner Ursula, this second foal is a half-sister to Magnification and is a fascinating runner for a strong stable.

Forecasts

Wirral Girl (1/1), Ellthea (9/4), Eva Docc (10/3), May Girl (9/2), Faithful Promise (11/2), Lil Gem (10/1), Silver Starlight (16/1), Mable Lee (33/1)

Verdict

Wirral Girl and May Girl are two newcomers worth checking in the betting market representing good yards. Faithful Promise upset an odds-on favourite before struggling in Listed company at York. Her front running style could make her difficult catch on this circuit but the vote has to go to ELLTHEA. It is hoped she breaks better than at Windsor where she walked out of the stalls and the first three soon shot clear of the field in a fast run race. Highly regarded, and the only horse seriously supported against the hot favourite, her work in the closing stages suggested she possessed the ability to win a race of this nature.
  1. Ellthea
  2. Faithful Promise
  3. Wirral Girl
