Prominent racer who has a fine strike rate on the AW and Kempton - the venue for his last three wins - in particular. Found 9.5f too far at Wolverhampton last time, but his last three wins have been over a mile and this trip may be on the short side as he tries to defy a career-high mark.
Two of his three wins have come at this track, one over this distance. Did not get the best of runs when a close fourth at Lingfield last time, runs off 1lb lower and looks sure to make a bold bid. Has won over a mile, but is fully effective at this shorter distance.
Strongest at the finish when winning over 6f at this course in February, and although both AW victories have come over that trip, he is well worth a try at this longer distance. Not disgraced on turf at Doncaster last time, but that was on heavy ground and he should be much happier on this surface..
Still without a win in four turf races and one AW outing, but is getting better with experience and shaped well when second of seven in a Yarmouth handicap last time. First try on this surface so more tried and tested rivals are preferred.
Has won his last two races at this track, making it three course wins in total. He is 9lb higher than for the first of those two successes, but he was particularly impressive last time and warrants maximum respect.
Won three times when trained by Michael Wigham, but two turf starts for his current trainer have yielded little in the way of encouragement. May fare better back on the AW, but can only be watched untll he regains his form.
Two wins from 10 starts on the AW came over C&D last year. Has run four times without success for his current trainer, but his last effort at this track was the most encouraging and he is not out of it off this handicap mark.
Returned from a six-month break to finish an encouraging third of seven at Lingield in April. Claims on that effort and although she has been running over further in recent outings, her only win came at this distance.
Most recent success came over C&D in March, but was raised in the weights for that and was behind Papou Tony at this track three starts ago. Has a 5lb pull for that, but the winner scored decisively and the placings should be confirmed.
On a steep upward curve with three wins and a second on his last four starts. Has yet to win at this course, but has run well on the surface so that may be less of a hindrance than another 6lb rise in the weights.
Experienced campaigner on turf and AW, but the last of his five wins came in April, last year. Has been out of form in two starts since returning from a break, but has dropped to a viable mark and is not ruled out.
Denied a fast finisher when winning narrowly over C&D last time and has been raised only 3lb for that. Lightly raced for her respected stable, she is open to improvement and can make her presence felt.
Veteran who has run 109 times on turf and AW, he has run respectably on his last two starts. Some younger rivals look better handicapped and he may prove vulnerable to one or two improvers.
Forecasts
Saleh (9/2), Papou Tony (11/2), Helfire (7/1), Believe It (8/1), Mezmaar (8/1), Bumptious (8/1), Dream Farr (9/1), Prince of Time (16/1), Gulland Rock (20/1), Corporal Maddox (20/1), Rayaa (25/1), Good Luck Charm (25/1), Fairway To Heaven (33/1)
An interesting opener in which cases can be made for several contenders. Believe It is sure to make a bold bid from the front and Papou Tony won so well at this track last time that he has to be feared, along with in the in-form Prince Of Time and Helfire, who won over C&D last time and is open to more improvement. However, the selection is SALEH, who likes this track and has been dropped in the weights for a perfectly-acceptable display at Lingfield last time.
- Saleh
- Papou Tony
- Helfire
