Made a winning debut over 5f at Salisbury (good-to-firm) last week. Slowly away on that occasion and likely to have improved for the experience. Represents a stable with a 32% strike-rate in recent weeks (9/28).
Runner-up on each of his last two starts having finished fourth at Nottingham (good-to-firm) on debut in April. Attempted to make virtually all here when beaten a short-head last time and likely to run well once more.

Started favourite but ultimately finished a well held seventh of 11 over C&D when making his debut in April. More needed if he's to take this contest.
Beaten 3½L when finished behind Nine Below Zero at Salisbury (good-to-firm) over 5f last week. Likely to have improved for that experience but more needed to reverse form with that rival here.

Beaten twice over 5f including on soft ground when 3L fourth of nine at Leicester two weeks ago. Likely to be playing a minor role in this.

Forecasts

Nine Below Zero (6/4), Choice Encounter (15/8), Lethal Lunch (4/1), Midsummer Knight (10/1), The Golden Cue (20/1)

Verdict

NINE BELOW ZERO made a winning debut at Salisbury at the end of last month and he can retain his unbeaten record by claiming this opening contest. Choice Encounter is the most experienced runner in this event having had three runs so far and he was narrowly touched off over C&D last month while Midsummer Knight who finished behind the selection on debut can claim third.
  1. Nine Below Zero
  2. Choice Encounter
  3. Midsummer Knight
